Our Co. Galway Cricket Club women's team will be facing two fierce rivals in the Munster Cricket Women's T15 Super League on Saturday. First facing Cork County Cricket Club winners of last year's title, and then in the later game a strong Limerick Cricket Club side who are on pole position in the league table going into this round of matches.
These are must win matches for the Tribeswomen all are welcome to attend and show support at the Lydican Oval tomorrow! 🏏💥

On 3rd July Co. Galway CC women played University of Galway CC women in a T15 friendly. It was the first time a match was played between two Connacht Cricket Union women's teams. An enjoyable game played in good spirits. Congratulations to UOG CC winning their debut game and both teams will be looking forward to more games together. Special thanks to the umpires and scorers for their time facilitating the match👏👏

A good weekend for County Galway Cricket.

After Friday's thunderstorm washed out our eliminator and Saturday's first ever Connacht Cricket Union women's friendly fixture against the University of Galway Sport women's cricket team. It also forced an emergency relocation of Saturday's T20 semi finals.

Galway now travelled to Kilconnell Cricket Club on Saturday for a place in next weeks T20 finals day.

Batting first Shariq and Umesh made solid progress of 48 for no loss before a flurry of wickets left Kilconnell on top with Galway rediced to 56-5

Taimooor Hassan and Khizar Mehmood steadier the ship with a 60 plus run partnership before a late acceleration saw us post an above par total of 145 from our 18 overs.

Kilconnell started well with 6 huge sixes from Tomy Titus in the first 2 overs before he fell to Skipper Jayesh Juneja LBW. Galways bowlers then put the squeeze on 2 wickets in an over for Taimoor really put the squeeze on.

Galway then put the pressure on and with regular wickets including 3 for Jay, 1 apiece for Danish and Khizar along with another 5fer for Taimoor to go along with top scoring with the bat Galway ran out convincing winners by 30 runs.

On Sunday the division 1 was out to prove loast weeks bowling performances was just a blip.
Bowling first they showed greater discipline and a commitment in the field. Ballyhaunis Cricket Club showed great patience though and were 100-1 at the half way stage.

Galway upped the ante after drinks though and some sharp run outs, good catches and accurate bowling lead by 3 wickets from Ishmail caused Ballyhaunis to collapse losing the 9 wickets for just 70 runs. Setting Galway 192 to win.

A solid 40 run opening partnership between openers Faraz and Umesh set a platform before a fluent 121 run partnership between Fahim and Tabish inside less than 20 overs sealed the game.
Tabish finished unbeaten on 64 while Fahim fell o 49 trying to hit the winning runs.

Both our senior and junior sides have progressed to the knockout stages of the Connacht Cricket Union T20 competitions.

The senior side topped their group with 3 commanding victories with two strong bowling performances against Athlone town and Ballaghaderreen cricket club coupled with an aggressive batting display against galway shamrocks sealed top spot of the group.

The juniors didnt have it as smoothly with a defeat and a washout in their first two games left them bottom of the table. But a win and a further rain affected game meant we progressed to the knockout round

The focus switches back to red ball cricket today with Galway fielding 2 teams. 1 in Kilconnell Cricket Club and one at home against Clare Cricket Team in the Connacht Cricket Union division 1 Munster Cricket premier league with both sides looking to cement a good run of victories
