Land Registry and Septic Tanks
For rural properties the locations of septic tanks and percolation areas is an important subject especially when thinking of selling.
You only need to register your septic tank or percolation area if it is located on a property other than yours.
We get many queries about the location of septic tank.

If there were a septic tank registered it would be shown on the map and then referenced with some folio document.

Below is a sample of how a septic tank and percolation area can be registered.
It is usually located as a point but in this case the entire percolation area is shown with yellow wayleave from the boundary to the septic tank.
The wayleave would contain rights to lay and maintain the pipe and blue lines indicate the pipes.
