‘When the Feet Find the Music’

By this point in September, some of the activities we signed our children up for at the beginning of the month may already have quietly fallen away. Maybe they didn’t love it immediately. Maybe it felt too hard. Maybe they just haven’t found their place in it yet.

𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

Some of the very first movements we teach are among the hardest. That little 1, 2, 3 in an easy reel looks so simple from the outside, but inside it is rhythm, balance, turnout, timing, control, coordination and courage, all happening at once.

There are no lyrics to tell you what comes next. No words to carry you through the phrase. The music has to become the guide. A child has to learn not just to hear the beat, but to feel where they belong inside it.

And that takes time.

So play the music at home. 🎶 Clap the beat together. Count to eight! Ask them to show you their hops in the kitchen. Celebrate the tiny things that might not look like progress yet.

Because one day, almost without warning, something shifts.

The movement lands.
The rhythm makes sense.
The feet find the music.

And suddenly the thing that felt impossible begins to feel like theirs.

And that moment is worth waiting for ☘️

A true character and a champion of Irish Dance in every way 🤍 Mr Matthew Donohue TCRG ADCRG SG – an absolute icon of An Chomhdháil who will be so sadly missed, not only as Chairperson but as a colleague and friend to so many.

His dedication, passion and contribution to Irish dancing over the years will never be forgotten.

Our deepest sympathies go to Matthew’s Alison & Mary as well as the rest of his family, friends, pupils and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Matthew. Your legacy will live on in the Irish dancing community for many years to come ✨️

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend, esteemed colleague, and Chairperson Matthew Donohue.
