New head coaches confirmed at two clubs ahead of new basketball season

🏀🌟 The Ireland F45 Women’s Masters team faced a Galway All-Star team in Claregalway today for a challenge game as part of preparations for their upcoming trip to Greece 🇬🇷

A great game with a well-earned win for the Masters - and a fantastic experience for everyone! 🏀

A special shoutout to underage players Siobhan, Emilia, and Cara from TITANS Basketball Club, Galway, who arrived in their Uggs just to support but ended up borrowing shoes and stepping onto the court! 💪🤩 Thanks a million for helping out and making the day even more memorable.

🏀 What a brilliant day in Claregalway as we faced the Ireland F40 Women's Masters team as part of an All-Star squad featuring players from Mystics, Limerick Sport Huskies, and Claregalway Basketball Club. 🤩

The Masters team came away with the win, cheered on by a packed hall full of enthusiastic young supporters ❤️

Ladies - we wish you the VERY best of luck at the FIBA Masters Open in Greece next month. 🇬🇷

We are delighted to welcome Jose Rodriguez as the new Head Coach of University of Galway Mystics Women's Division One Basketball team 🏀

Jose brings extensive coaching experience from both Ireland and Spain, including successful spells with Titans Basketball Club in Galway and CAB Atarfe in Granada.

With a strong background in women's basketball and performance coaching, Jose brings energy, expertise, and ambition to the team.

🌟 GABB Awards 🌟 Congrats to Mystics players KARA and CLAIRE, who were recognised at last night's Galway Area Basketball Board's Annual Awards ceremony.

KARA was honoured for her contribution to the Ireland Women's squad during their JYSK Summer Series clash with Norway, where Ireland won 78-63. She has also enjoyed another outstanding season with Mystics, where she was ranked #1 in the Domino's Women’s Division One League for steals, #3 for free throws, and #7 for rebounds - an incredibly impressive achievement in a league featuring so many professional players 🏀

CLAIRE was named Young Referee of the Year 2026 after completing her very first season officiating with the Western Officials Association (WOA). Alongside working as a referee, Claire has been balancing a busy schedule - playing U18 and U20 basketball with TITANS Basketball Club, Galway, competing in Division One with Mystics, and preparing to sit her Leaving Cert next week! 💪📚

It's wonderful to see these achievements recognised - thank you, Galway Area Basketball Board for everything you do to support and develop basketball in our region.
