This could mean a deal sheet may have to be issued prior to the 11 pm deadline in order to give the club some extra time to resolve the matter.

The ultimate one-game horror show - and it's his birthday today.

Glenn Matthew Keeley - born 1 September 1954 in Barking, the centre-half who spent most of his career at Ipswich, Newcastle and Blackburn.

Everton's entry in the one-appearance club:
• November 6th, 1982 - Everton v Liverpool at Goodison, Division One
• Signed on loan from Blackburn Rovers in 1982
• Howard Kendall hands him a debut in the derby because of injuries. It lasts 37 minutes before he's sent off for hauling down Kenny Dalglish - the story at the time was he didn't realize the laws had just changed to allow a straight red for a professional foul.

Already 1-0 down to an Ian Rush opener, Everton then collapse. Rush gets four on the day - what the Echo called "Rush's masterclass condemned Everton to their heaviest derby defeat at Goodison".
Final score: 5-0 to them.

Keeley was duly sent back to Blackburn. Never played for Everton again - so 1 appearance, 37 minutes, 100% red card rate.

EFL Forced to Rearrange Three Fixtures After UEFA Clash

The English Football League has been forced to rearrange three fixtures following UEFA's announcement of Champions League league-phase dates on Saturday.

On 28 August, the EFL confirmed that Everton's Carabao Cup Round Three tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers would take place at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Wednesday 9 September, after consultation with local stakeholders.

On Saturday, UEFA scheduled Liverpool v Atletico Madrid — Wednesday 9 September, 8pm at Anfield — for the same evening, despite Merseyside Police regulations preventing Everton and Liverpool from hosting home fixtures on the same night.

The EFL met with UEFA officials on Monday morning to explore options, but UEFA were unwilling to move their fixture. The League said it has made "a number of changes to accommodate the expansion of UEFA Club competitions — a decision which was made without adequate consultation with domestic leagues".

Disappointingly, the League has therefore been forced to make changes to:
• Carabao Cup R3: Everton v Wolverhampton Wanderers — moved from 9 September to 16 September • Carabao Cup R3: Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur — moved from 16 September to 15 September • Championship: Wolverhampton Wanderers v Portsmouth — also rescheduled, now reported as Tuesday 20 October
The EFL has apologised to supporters of the five impacted clubs for the inconvenience.

96 years ago today .

30 August 1930 was Everton's first ever game outside the top flight. After 42 straight seasons in Division 1 since the Football League began in 1888, relegation in 1929-30 sent us down, and the opener was the longest away trip in the league - Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.

It ended Plymouth 2-3 Everton in Division Two in front of 34,236.

That was huge for the time. Plymouth had just won the Third Division South and built a brand new grandstand for it - workmen on three shifts, 24 hours a day to get it ready - and the local press was expecting close to 40,000 because "Argyle’s opening game with Everton".

Everton went with almost the same side that had rallied too late the previous spring:
Coggins; Williams and Cresswell; McPherson, Griffiths and Thomson; Critchley, White, Dean, Martin, and Rigby
Ben Williams captained.

The goals on the official sheet are listed as George Scott Martin and Thomas White (2) - so White got a brace and Martin the other. Even Dixie was in the side but didn't score that day.
