Graiguenamanagh canoe club would like to say A huge thank you to Kilkenny County Council and Waterways Ireland for their generous support and help through the Outdoor Recreation Grant. This was a €60,000 euro Grant that we feel was another great investment in Graiguenamanagh.
This funding has transformed our community space, making it more accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. The upgrades include:
🛶 A new floating pontoon with an accessible kayak launch, helping people of all abilities enjoy kayaking and get closer to the water and provide a safety net in the river for swimmers with two additional ladders.
🏊 New swimming steps, providing safer and easier access for swimmers
🪑 New benches, creating welcoming places for families, friends and visitors to relax, meet and enjoy the surroundings
🚶♀️ A newly tarmacked walkway, improving safety, comfort and accessibility for walkers, to both the boys school and linking the slaire wood walk.
Together, these improvements are helping to create a more inclusive outdoor recreation area where everyone can participate, connect with nature and enjoy the community. It is wonderful to see the space becoming more welcoming and accessible for people of all ages and abilities.
We are incredibly grateful to Kilkenny County Council and Waterways Ireland for investing in our community and helping make this exciting project possible.
