With the drop in oestrogen & the insomnia, you might not feel like exercising.

When you’ve had a bad nights sleep, it’s hard to get up & eat well (your body may be craving lots of carbs) & exercise might be the last thing on your mind if your energy levels are in the bin 🗑️

During this time, it’s important we try to eat well, lots of protein & water, go for a walk if you’re not feeling a weight session. Yoga & meditation can also help your mind if you’re struggling with brain fog 😶‍🌫️

If you do go to the gym, you might consider using lighter weights & doing more reps. You may not be as strong as you used to be & that’s ok 😌

You need to be kind to yourself 🫶🏻

Part 2 🌱

Oestrogen also impacts our bone health & once we stop producing it, our bones can become weaker & we are at risk of developing osteoporosis.

It can affect our cardiovascular health. It regulates our cholesterol.

Symptoms of low oestrogen:

💦 Night sweats
🔥 Hot flushes
🩸 Irregular or absent periods
❤️‍🔥 Low libido
🫡 Mood swings
🧠 Brain fog

What is oestrogen? Part 1 🌱

Oestrogen is the primary female s*x hormone.

It’s responsible for regulating our menstrual cycle & maintaining our reproductive health.

Oestrogen is produced in our ovaries so during perimenopause, the production of oestrogen starts to decrease causing our periods to change or become irregular.

Perimenopause happens a few years before menopause. It’s the time when your body starts to produce less oestrogen. It can happen in your mid 30s & 40s. Your hormones drop & periods become irregular. This stage continues until menopause.

Menopause is when you have not had a period in 12 months. Your ovaries have stopped producing eggs & levels of oestrogen & progesterone have decreased.

Postmenopause is the final stage where you may experience hot flashes, night sweats & sleep disturbances. This stage can continue for up to 10 years after menopause.

You may have seen recently that I’m studying to be a menopause coach.

When I told someone this, they said ‘but you’re not going through menopause?’ 🤨

I’m not but I have clients that are 😇

Some women go through menopause in their 40s/50s but the symptoms of perimenopause can start in your 30s.

If you’re going through menopause or experiencing symptoms of perimenopause, feel free to send me a DM. I’d love to have a chat about how I can help you 🥰
