Blacks and Whites GAA Club Blacks and Whites GAA club is a rural GAA club from Skeoughvosteen in north Kilkenny. We have GAA teams from under 8 right up to adult teams.

The Blacks & Whites Club was founded in 1925. In its infancy the club was closely associated with one man, Tom Walsh from Courtnaboughla, Skeoughvosteen. Tom went to school locally and attended Pallaskenry college Limerick, where he played hurling and football with the college. On his return home together with Jim Brennan, Mick Moran, the Kelly’s, the Power’s, the Moylan’s and others founded the Blacks and Whites Club in 1925. Tom went on and became chairman of the Kilkenny County Board, Leinster Council and Vice President of Central Council of The G.A.A. The Tom Walsh Cup, the trophy presented to the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Champions anually, is presented in his memory. Tom also was Minister for Agriculture at the time of his death in 1952. On May 28th 1978, the Blacks & Whites opened its new grounds at Coolnabrone, Skeoughvosteen and named it Tom Walsh Park.

We’re delighted to announce that our own Sam Byrne will represent Blacks & Whites in the Kilkenny North v South hurling match at UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday, 31st October.

Sam will line out for the North alongside players from clubs across Kilkenny, with the event raising funds for Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny Camogie, Cois Nore and the Dillon Quirke Foundation.

Each club has a fundraising target of €500, with all money raised above this going directly back to the club.

We’re encouraging all Blacks & Whites supporters to get behind Sam and help us reach our target!

🏁 That’s a wrap for our Preschoolers! 🖤🤍

Our brilliant little Preschoolers finished up last night after a great season of fun, games and plenty of hurling! 🏑

A big thank you to all of our coaches for giving their time throughout the year and making every session so enjoyable for the kids.

A huge thank you to ’s Service Station Borris and Ben for kindly sponsoring treats for all the children last night. It was very much appreciated and a lovely way to finish off the season! 🍬🍫

📖 *Help Us Preserve 100 Years of Our Club and Community*

📣Last year, we celebrated a very special milestone — 100 years of our club at the heart of our community.

We are now preparing to publish our Centenary history, a book filled with the people, stories, memories, photographs and achievements that have shaped our club over the past century.

With publishing costs having risen significantly, we need to raise an additional €2,000 to bring the book to print.

We would love the wider community to be part of this final chapter. Please support our GoFundMe if you can, share the appeal, or help us connect with local businesses who may wish to sponsor the project.

Thank you for your help in preserving our shared history for generations to come. ⬛⬜⬛⬜
