🏏 WHAT. A. FINISH! KILKENNY 1 WIN BY 1 WICKET! 🖤💛

A sensational game of cricket and an incredible show of character from Kilkenny 1, chasing down 256 on the final ball of the 50th over to defeat Laois 1 by just ONE WICKET! 🔥

Laois posted a strong 255 all out, despite an excellent effort from our bowlers, led by Haris Syed (4/37) and Deepak Pandey (3/36).

The chase was built around a magnificent century from Junaid Rehman Farooqi — 116 from 127 balls 👏🔥, with Kabir Tokhai contributing a crucial 61 from 115. Their partnership kept Kilkenny firmly in the contest.

But the drama wasn’t finished.

With wickets falling and 20+ runs still required from the final two overs, the pressure was enormous. Ali Chaudhry and Haris Syed held their nerve at the crease and refused to let the game slip away.

Ali produced a hugely important cameo of 12 runs from just 8 balls, finding the runs when they mattered most and staying composed under pressure as the pair helped Kilkenny cross the line. 💪🏏

259/9 after 50 overs. Victory by ONE wicket. Final ball.

Not our day today, as County Cavan 2 took the win by 47 runs in the Cricket Leinster Open Competitions – Division 16B.

County Cavan 2 posted 160 all out, with Kilkenny 2 fighting hard in reply but finishing on 113 all out.

There were still plenty of positives to take from the game. 💪

🎯 Ali Chaudhary led the way with the ball, taking an excellent 3/36 from 7 overs.

🏏 Joy Lobo top-scored for Kilkenny with a determined 25 from 38 balls.

⚡ Vamsi Ghanta showed attacking intent with a quick 16 from 15 balls.

👏 B. Priyalakshmi also contributed a valuable 15 from 32 balls.

A fantastic performance from Kilkenny Cricket Club 1st XI as we secured our place in the GS Cricket Intermediate Cup Final with an impressive six-wicket victory over Finglas CC.

After winning the toss, Kilkenny elected to bowl first. Finglas started positively, but our bowlers maintained the pressure and picked up wickets at crucial stages.

⭐ Kilkenny Bowling Highlights:

🎯 Zarar Kamal – 2/27

Despite some determined resistance from the Finglas middle and lower order, Kilkenny remained disciplined and eventually bowled the hosts out for 170.

Chasing 171, Kilkenny suffered an early setback when Junaid departed in the opening over. Finglas’ opening bowlers produced an excellent spell with the new ball, putting our batters under considerable pressure.

However, Kilkenny showed great composure and experience to weather the early storm.

Ashan played an important innings of 25, helping to stabilise the chase before Shoaib Tariq produced the match-defining performance.

Shoaib anchored the chase superbly, combining patience with controlled aggression and taking Kilkenny to within touching distance of the target.

After his dismissal with only 20 runs required, Shafiqur Rahman and Kabeer Tokhai calmly completed the job to send Kilkenny into the Intermediate Cup Final! 🏆

💚 A SEMI-FINAL WON. A FINAL AWAITS. 💚

This was a complete team performance — disciplined bowling, committed fielding, composed batting under pressure and a determination to get the job done when it mattered most.

Phoenix 2 posted a competitive 200/8 from their 50 overs, but Kilkenny chased the target with confidence, reaching 205/5 in 46.5 overs.

Kilkenny 2 produced a determined team performance to defeat Swords 5 by 3 wickets with 8 balls remaining in a thrilling Division 16B encounter at Newbridge.

After winning the toss, Swords 5 posted 108 all out from their 20 overs. Kilkenny’s bowlers kept things tight throughout the innings and never allowed the opposition to build any major partnerships.
