Hey all, just an update on what’s going on here. I’ve been training away and all is going well. I have been busy finalising plans and logistics for this challenge but due to a couple of ongoing health issues that I won’t have fully resolved by the summer I have no choice but to postpone until 2024. I am still confident I could give it a good attempt this year but not fully confident that I would complete it. I have no doubt it will get done in 2024. Thanks for your patience, see you on the road in ‘24. Details to follow soon.

It’s 52 weeks from today to the start of this challenge. I get the feeling the time is going to go a lot faster than I would wish. There’s an awful lot of work to be done yet both in training and behind the scenes but I am confident that it will get done. On Saturday I went to Belfast to collect the bike I will be using. It was made specifically for what I will need next year. To say I am delighted with it is an understatement. It’s beautiful both to look at and to cycle. Thanks to Owen for building it for me. This man knows everything and more than there is to know about frames, metals, component etc. and he is infinitely patient too😀. Looking forward to many long spins on the bike now. With some swimming and running too😀.

Just in case ye all thought I’ve been hanging around doing nothing I thought I had better post something. The following is the proposed agenda for next summer. This is the route I will be taking. Each day will start in the water at 6.30am. For logistical and insurance purposes this will be a solo undertaking but I hope that some of you will join in for a few miles here and there. Remember it is a full distance every day so plenty of miles to choose from😂. I will update more over the summer as all routes are finalised. I should also have news by then on the chosen charities. See you on the road soon.

Hey guys, so here it is, the launch of the Hardman Full Irish challenge. I have hinted at it a few times without being too specific. the problem has been that I couldn't commit to a date with all that's been happening. I had hoped for 2022 but i don't believe we will be back to 'normal' even then and this is too big a challenge mentally, physically and logistically to leave it to chance. Therefore it will now begin on July 26th 2023.
So to basics. I will complete 32 full distance triathlons in 32 counties over 32 days. Not a hope you may say! Well that remains to be seen. The donations will be set up in a way that you can even bet against me completing it.
This is being done as the Ultimate Endurance Challenge and charity fundraiser. A lot of work has gone into this already and I have a great team on board. As time goes on I will post updates on social media and expect to have the website up and running early in January.
Over the next few weeks I will introduce the team and give more specifics on routes within each county. I welcome any and all support/knowledge that anyone can give.
At present I can confirm the following:
i) It will begin in Co. Laois on July 26th 2023
ii) Ending in Killarney at The Hardman on August the 26th 2023
iii) Each day will begin at 6.30am and finish when it's finished
iv) Every swim will be open water
v) There will be 6 charities who will benefit from this challenge
vi) This is a completely solo challenge but I hope that you might join me on the road for a few miles when passing your area.
So feel free to like and share this page, the more the merrier. I look forward to updating you as time goes on,
Alan
