MESSAGE FROM THE CLERK OF THE COURSE - KEVIN FLANNERY.
Good evening everyone.
After a very successful weekend at the Killarney Forestry Rally, I would like to thank everyone who
put their shoulder to the wheel to ensure the successful running of the event.
A special thank you to Adrian Cronin and Damien Price who were heavily involved with the Killarney Historic Rally, both of whom without a rest started straight into getting the Forestry rally off the ground. As deputy COC and Safety Officer their commitment to the sport and the club is to be admired. Louise Bourke on her first time as
rally secretary and the girls in sign on a massive thank you.
A special thanks to our Motorsport Ireland Delegates, Tracking technicians, Stage Commanders, Timekeepers, Radio operators, Rescue crews, Doctors, AP’s, Ambulance crews and Marshals without whom this rally could not run.
To the wider rally community and neighbouring clubs, without you this event could not have been as successful. Thank you to the lads and ladies who took time off work to ensure the stages were set up, bales were in place and roads repaired for the smooth running of the rally on Sunday last.
Thank you to the team who put the programme together, from gathering ads to articles and photos and Pat Cashman for the distribution.
On Sunday evening after 9pm I met the clean up crew who were just back in Castleisland with every
bit of stage equipment in two trailers and every bale cleared from the stages. Bear in mind the stages
finished before 5pm and these guys were out since 6am. A job that goes unnoticed but has to be done. I thank you all.
Thank you to our main sponsors, Cyril Wharton Tool Hire Ltd and Niall Murphy in Castleisland Tyres for their continued support. Thanks to The River Island Hotel and KC Print for their support.
Thank you to Castleisland Co-Op Mart for the use of their facilities where crews could set up on Saturday morning and not have to move outside the area until home time on Sunday.
Thanks to Coillte and their staff and finally to the road repair crews.
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend in Castleisland and remember - Support those who support our sport.
Regards.

So much to discuss and take in following the weekend. The highs and lows, the ups and the downs.
However the rally would not have been possible without the individuals who gave up their precious free time to come volunteer and help out by marshalling, time keeping, doing passage controls, service in, service out, course vehicles and so much more. The attached photos are only a snapshot of the many that helped out.
Without these smiling individuals and so many more like them quite simply motorsport events up and down the country wouldn’t run.
These people, often abused, much-maligned, criticised, insulted and vilified show up, do the job, then go home, dust themselves off and show up at another event for more of the same again. They truly do it just purely for the love of it.
We speak so often and so eloquently about the hero’s of our sport. Well these are the hero’s ladies and gentlemen and we should be so grateful for them.
