Intermediate Championship
Fossa came through a titanic battle with Listowel Emmetts in this Intermediate Championship semifinal in Fossa on Sunday. David Clifford opened the scoring with a magnificent two pointer in the second minute, Emmetts hit back with two points before their dangerous full forward, Darragh Lynch had the ball in the Fossa net in the 7th minute. Their lead was short lived, Emmett O’Shea hit a two pointer and the awesome David Clifford kicked six points, including a brace of two pointers to leave Fossa leading by five at the twenty minute mark. Listowel were dangerous going forward and it took a couple of vital interceptions by Darren Ryan, Paddy Sheehan and Cian O’Shea to keep them at bay, they did register three points to leave the half time score Fossa 0-11, Listowel 1-05.
Young Jack Hallissey broke forward to punch the opening score of the second half, Listowel replied with a point but two David Clifford scores, including a sublime effort in the 10th minute put Fossa five ahead again. Listowel were dogged and just wouldn’t go away, they got back into contention with a well taken goal from Darragh Lynch in the 13th minute and were on top in the possession stakes around the middle of the field. However, as he has done for club and county on many occasions, up stepped Paudie Clifford to score two brilliant points for Fossa when they needed a steady hand on the wheel. Listowel fought hard and were on level terms by the 25th minute, it was now all to play for. Fossa didn’t panic and won good possession which took the sting out of the Listowel attack, Eoin Talbot kicked a lovely point. A David Clifford free fell short and in the goalmouth scamble, Ted O’Gorman was quickest to react to punch the ball to the Listowel net, the same player got the last score of the game to leave a relieved Fossa winners on a score of 1-19 to 2-12.

Fossa Ladies produced a disciplined and hard working display on the road to secure an impressive eight-point victory over ISG, emerging deserved winners on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-5 despite physically demanding conditions. Leading 1-8 to 0-3 at half-time, Fossa laid the foundations for victory with an energetic opening half, combining excellent defensive organisation with efficient scoring. While both sides competed fiercely throughout, Fossa consistently carried the greater attacking threat and were rewarded with a convincing win.
The game was characterised by high intensity and strong defensive pressure from both teams. Fossa's work rate without the ball was particularly impressive, restricting ISG to just six scores over the course of the contest.

At the other end, Fossa created a wealth of scoring opportunities and dominated possession from kick outs, allowing them to control key periods of the game. While there is still room to improve efficiency in front of goal, the volume of chances created highlighted their ability to repeatedly break through the ISG defence. Encouragingly, the scores were shared across the team. Across the field, Fossa's collective effort, defensive discipline and ability to win crucial possession proved decisive. Overall, this was another highly encouraging team performance, with defensive organisation, kick out dominance and attacking intent providing the platform for a deserved victory and plenty of positives to build on in the weeks ahead.

Our Mothers and Others squad were on the road again and made the short trip to Beaufort for two enjoyable matches against Beaufort and Kerins O'Rahillys. Playing under lights for the first time this autumn and in challenging wet conditions, the players brought tremendous energy and enthusiasm throughout. A big thank you to Beaufort for their hospitality and the welcome refreshments after the games. It was a great evening of football and community spirit. Thanks to Beaufort for having us.
