Killorglin Rowing Club Set for St Michael’s Head of the River 💙🤍
Killorglin Rowing Club will be back in racing action this Saturday, 10 October, as a strong contingent travels to O’Brien’s Bridge, Co. Clare, for the St Michael’s Head of the River.
The event marks one of the first major outings of the winter racing season for KRC, with the club fielding an exciting mix of experienced athletes and developing young rowers across a wide range of categories.
There will be plenty of blue and white on the water, with Killorglin represented from J13 right through to J18 and senior level, across singles, doubles, quads and larger crew boats. For some of the club’s younger rowers, Saturday will provide another valuable opportunity to gain racing experience, while the more established crews will be looking to build on a very successful 2026 season.
Fiola Foley will also fly the Killorglin flag as part of a composite Women’s Senior Eight, adding another KRC presence to what promises to be a busy day of racing.
Organised by St Michael’s Rowing Club, the Head of the River has a history stretching back to 1981 and traditionally attracts crews from clubs across the country to race on the course towards O’Brien’s Bridge.
For Killorglin, the event is about much more than results. With such a large junior representation travelling, it is another important opportunity for the club’s younger athletes to experience racing, learn how to compete as part of a team and continue building towards the season ahead.
