Despite a memorable and inspired second half performance in Kilmessan last night unfortunately our brave U16 hurlers came up short in their Division 1 cup semi-final clash with the hosts.
What a season these guys have had. After winning promotion to Division 1 last year the Loughcrew Gaels/Gaeil Colmcille side laid down a strong marker by winning the Shield in the Spring League campaign. This autumn for the championship all focus was on the Cup and after a slow start against Kiltale in round 1 where they had an outstanding second half display, they drew honours even with Na Fianna before finally producing an unforgettable two half performance against Trim. Alas, last night their 2026 Cup run came to an end against strong home opposition.
What a journey these guys have brought us on this season, what enjoyment they have given us to, and how bright the future is for all of us lucky to know them. We are immensely proud of their efforts, their commitment all season and the respect they showed all season for each other and the coaching team. We only hope they continue to inspire us and make us proud for many years to come. Leaders all. 🇯🇲🇮🇹🥎
