U14 Boys Desmond League Div 2

Abbeyfeale U14 Boys took on Newcastle B last Saturday in Abbeyfeale in their second league game of the season. Following an impressive win over Broadford in midweek we were keen to get more points on the board but knew little of what our opponents would bring. Despite dominating possession in the early stages the teams were still level after twenty five minutes with Ryan Browne and Eliah Keogh coming closest. On the counter Newcastle looked dangerous but the backline manned by Gearoid Collins and flanked by captain Michael Fitzgerald and Orhan Hoepfner were holding strong. On the wings Conor Lenihan and Roibeard Woods were again making the position their own, covering every blade of grass. Eventually the deadlock was broken with Michael O'Hanlon drilling the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box. Moments later it was 2-0 when Mernoosh Salimi delivered a perfect cross and Darren O'Brien tapped home from close range. That would remain the score until half time

Within a minute of the restart it was 3-0, again Michael O'Hanlon unleashing a shot from the edge of the box. Changes were made on the sideline and none were more effective than Kajus Berzanskis who rattled the net twice in a three minute window to put this game to bed. Midway through the half it was 6-0 when Mernoosh found the top corner with a long range effort. Further changes were made with Evan O'Connell and Noah Nash slotting comfortably into defence while Oisin O'Sullivan and Evan O'Mahony swapped gloves, both commanding as the last line. Sean Horgan up top was again unlucky not to open his account but was busy as usual. After a brace against Broadford, Ryan Browne was back on the scoresheet with ten minutes remaining after a fine assist from Rhys Horgan. Newcastle converted a penalty with five minutes to go but Abbeyfeale had time for one more when Ryan Browne squared the ball for Kieran Sheehan who drilled home from close range to wrap up the scoring at 8-1. Two wins from two played, it has been a perfect start to the season but tougher tests await

⚽ CRACKER BY THE FEALE! 🔵⚪

Our Under 12A’s first league game of the season proved to be an absolute belter against a strong Broadford side in our first Division 1 game.

Both teams gave it 110% from start to finish. The visitors took the lead inside the first 10 minutes, but Abbeyfeale showed great character to bounce back and take the lead.

⚽ Our goals came from the boots of Jake Guinane, Evan Lane and Billy O’Connell.

A fantastic effort from the whole squad — well done lads! 👏👏
