Teicnic Badminton Camps
Templemore, Co. Tipperary and Moyvane, Co. Kerry hosted Teicnic Badminton Camps in recent weeks.
Conor Byrne, Michelle Tierney, Chloe Tierney and Evan Martin coached at Templemore Badminton Club’s Summer Camp. Thirty-two players ranging from 7-17 years old took part and over the course of five days, they worked on developing their skills through activities, games, and the Teicnic White programme.
In Kerry, Moyvane was the venue for the Teicnic Camp. Michelle Corr, Tom Bradley, Brian Kiely and Yvonne Bergin were the coaches for this camp and guided the players through Teicnic White, Yellow, Green, Red and Blue programmes. Thirty-one players between the ages of 8 and 16 participated in this camp.
It is very encouraging to see such great numbers attending the Teicnic camps that have been run so far. The enthusiasm shown by all participants, coaches, and organisers bodes well for the future of badminton in Ireland. Who knows, we may have a future Irish badminton star in attendance at a Teicnic camp this summer!
Teicnic Badminton is skills-based programme which focuses on the technical progression of players at key stages in their badminton development. Karate has belts, swimming has badges and badminton has t-shirts! There are several levels with white the entry shirt and black the highest technical level. Teicnic badminton is suitable for all levels from beginners to more advanced players.
