It is always a proud moment to have one of our boxers represent our country especially at a major competition and we all wish Sophie the very best and hope she enjoys every moment of the experience.

The team that is matched to travel to Dublin this Saturday will be announced tonight in the club so we need all boxers to be there and to let us know if they are avaliable to travel or not.
Leaving limerick at 8am returning approx 4pm.

We are delighted to be able to announce our Irish champion Sophie Cronin has been picked to represent Ireland in the upcoming European championships,
To represent your country is always a very proud thing but to do so at such a major event even more special.
Sophie worked extremely hard across the summer months with this goal in mind and we are very happy for her that all the hard work has paid off, Well done Soph,
Congrats also to limericks other rep LeticijaTeineire of Rathkeale boxing club and best of luck to both..

The Team Ireland team to contest the 2026 European U15 Championships has been named.

The 25 strong team include national champions, Four Nations medalists, dual nations medalists and international benchmark medalists. Among them is Pa Casey, the 2025 European U15 champion at 44kg, and Best Male Boxer of that tournament. He’s joined by 2025 European U15 bronze medalist, Rosaletta Casey

The Team’s Co-Captains are Pa Casey and Rosaletta Casey. The Vice Co-Captains are Rian Brannigan and Sophie Potter.

The team is led and and managed by Team Manager Stephen Connolly, Ballymore Hollywood BC, Kildare and Aine McLoughlin, Spartans BC, Cork. The team is coached by Paul Simpson, Saviours Crystal BC, Waterford; John Coffey, Sliabh Luachra BC, Kerry; Tommy O’Donnell, Charleville BC, Cork; Maria O’Brien, Ballymun BC, Dublin. Marty O’Neill has been appointed R&J.

The tournament takes place in Trabzon, Türkiye, from October 16th to 27th.

We had a very special visitor to the club last night.
Caoimhe Ni Rian the granddaughter of our former president Eamon Ryan came to the club and gifted us some of Eamons photos and trophies that he won.
For those that didnt get to meet Eamon he was a very proud member of our club who gave his whole life to St Francis firstly as a boxer for many years where he won multiple titles and represented his country many times and with great success,he then took control as a coach and trained many champions and shaped countless lives in his decades of coaching St Francis.
He took over as president and was a huge driving force for our club especially in securing us our current home when we were being moved from the Arthurs quay area.
It was probably as a referee and official that most knew Eamon, a briliantly fair no nonsence and much sought after ref, it was very common for clubs from all across Ireland to request Eamon was made the middle man for their boxers bouts.
Such was Eamons regard in boxing he was chosen many times to travel to major international competitions as the national team manager and respresnting his country in this roll made Eamon very proud.
Add to that decades dedication to the Limerick county board and provincial council both of which he presided over.
Eamon was a special man and our club would not be here today without all his years of hard work.
We hope to display some of Eamons photos and trophies in the club in the near future and it will be a fitting tribute to all the work completed by him down through the years.
