National Cup Champions Challenge Match

Our U14 National Cup winners took on Northern Ireland National Cup champions Cliftonville in Mullingar on Saturday in a special cross-border champions fixture.

The final score of 6-2 perhaps doesn’t tell the full story of a game in which our boys showed tremendous character and commitment throughout. We made a bright start and even took the lead, while later battling back to level the game at 2-2 against an excellent Cliftonville side.

Cliftonville demonstrated why they are national champions, playing some outstanding football and boasting several Northern Ireland internationals within their ranks. As the game wore on, their quality shone through, but our players never stopped competing and continued to work hard right until the final whistle. Today’s victory also secured a fifth trophy of the season for Cliftonville, highlighting the calibre of the opposition our boys faced.

One of the highlights of the day was that every member of the squad got valuable game time, ensuring all the players shared in what was a fantastic experience against top-class opposition.

With our focus now turning back to domestic matters, this group still has plenty to play for as they continue their pursuit of a remarkable treble. The experience gained against such high-quality opposition will stand to them in the challenges that lie ahead.

A huge thank you to all the parents and supporters who made the long journey to Mullingar. Your encouragement and support throughout the season, and on the day itself, is greatly appreciated.

And if nothing else, the boys certainly looked the part in their new tops!

While the result didn’t go our way, the occasion was a fitting reward for a group of players who have already created history for the club this season and continue to represent themselves, their families and the club with great pride.

Finally, congratulations to Fairview Rangers U15s, who defeated Cliftonville on penalties in their Champions Challenge fixture. A fantastic achievement and a great result to round off a memorable day of football.

Huge congratulations to our 17As on capping off a superb season winning the League Cup saturday night to add to their league title.
The game opened quite cagily and in an evenly matched first half, Pike took the lead 30 minutes in. Aisling upped the tempo after this and Jack Cregan leveled with a fine strike from outside the box to go in 1 1 at the break. There were few chances in the second half with a committed performance from our defence. We were unable to capitalise on our chances and the games was decided in penalties. Scorers for Aisling were Kevin McNamara, Rian Martin, Ewan Coulter and Luke O’Riordan. Two superb saves from Jake Carmody saw us through to complete the double.
Well done to all the lads who showed great skill, spirit and fight throughout the season.
