Some people switch off with Netflix.
Some of us disappear for hours chasing quiet roads, fresh air and that feeling you only get on a bike.
No notifications.
No noise.
Just pedals turning and the world slowing down for a while.
That’s the magic of cycling.

Not every repair is obvious.
Sometimes the problem isn’t the part that failed.
It’s the wear you can’t see,
the setup that’s slightly off,
or the ‘quick fix’ someone tried before.
Different bikes.
Different riders.
Different demands.
That’s why experience matters.

Every mechanic knows this feeling 😅
You start the job thinking:
‘No problem, easy fix.’
Then five minutes later you uncover:
cross-threaded bolts,
random mismatched parts,
cables routed through dimensions not yet discovered by physics…
and enough grease to refloat the Titanic.
Suddenly you’re just standing there in silence questioning humanity.
Happy Wednesday from VeloWorx 🛠️🚲

Before VeloWorx, before workshops, before toolboxes and torque wrenches…
There was this.
Me and my parents, cycling around Vanuatu in the early 90s.
Some of my best childhood memories happened on two wheels:
exploring beaches,
dusty roads,
little adventures,
stopping wherever looked interesting.
Funny how bikes keep showing up through every stage of life.
Maybe that’s why this business means so much to me.
Because for me, bikes were never just bikes.

Three generations. One obsession. 🚲
My granddad.
My dad, 1958.
And then me.
Seems bikes were always going to be part of the story.
Long before VeloWorx existed, cycling was already in the family. Different bikes, different decades, same feeling, freedom, adventure, independence.
Funny how some things are passed down without anyone ever saying a word.
Maybe that’s why I care so much about every bike I work on.
It was never just business.

Most people only think about their bike when something goes wrong.
But the best rides?
They start long before the first pedal stroke.
Quiet drivetrain.
Sharp shifting.
Confident braking.
Everything working exactly as it should.
That’s what a proper service is really about.
Less stress.
More riding.
More freedom. 🚴
Hope everyone had a great weekend and got out on two wheels somewhere.

Nothing ruins a weekend ride faster than a bike that’s been ignored for 6 months.
Crunching gears.
Squealing brakes.
Dry chains.
Tyres barely hanging on.
A proper service changes the whole ride.
Smooth.
Quiet.
Fast.
Effortless.
That’s the difference attention to detail makes. 🔧

For years, most riders only talked about braking power.
But the real difference on modern bikes is consistency.
Heavier bikes, faster descents, e-bikes, gravel, loaded bikepacking setups… modern brake systems are working harder than ever.
That’s why rotor thickness is becoming a real discussion.
1.8mm still works brilliantly for many bikes.
2.0mm and 2.3mm setups can offer more stability, better heat management and a calmer brake feel under repeated hard braking.
But here’s the important part most people miss:
thicker rotors are not a universal upgrade.
The caliper, pads, piston clearance and frame setup all matter.
Good mechanics don’t chase trends.
They match the system to the rider. 👌
What are you running?
1.8mm, 2.0mm or 2.3mm?
