Hi Everyone,
Unfortunately the Flying Club will not be back this semester - C&S has discontinued the club. This means that in order to reinstate the club we will be subject to the 15 week trial for new clubs once more, hence we would have no budget for any activities.
After a lengthy discussion between the C&S and our committee we decided that the club is no longer viable for numerous reasons;
1. Low membership rate
2. Lack of interest in attending weekly meetings
3. The high cost of flying in Ireland (it costs over €4,000 to train for a PPL - this is a lot of money for a student to hand over in the current economic climate)
4. Limited funding for trips to aviation-related activities

Hello Everyone,
I am sorry it has been so long since we posted on our page.
The Flying Club had to suspend activities for this semester because our committee members are all away on co-operative education placements within the aviation industry. Our commitments to work have left us unable to host activities for the Flying Club this semester because we are not on campus to run them.
However, we will all be back on campus next January and we will be at the recruitment drive. We will then waste no time in arranging trips and activities to get the club back in action.
I apologise for the lack of activity this semester, but we have plans to more than make up for it next semester!

Would anyone be interested in going to the Bray Air show this year as a group? We could arrange for a night out in Dublin on the Saturday night and then go the the show the following day. Please get back to me asap if you are interested!

Please note that this will not be subsidised by the club.

The UL Flying Club trip to Fairford to see the Royal International Air Tattoo show has been approved! The trip will be from the 11th to the 13th of July, and there are limited places. Attention all Flying Club Members!
The Flying Club is planning on going to the Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford (UK) this July. The trip will only be €200 per person and this will cover the three days of the show and three nights in nearby Swindon.
