Could everyone please check out 14 year-old James’ fantastic account of Sunday’s junior parkrun. Maybe even give him a little encouraging comment, it may inspire more of our youngsters to give their penmanship skills a try!
Event #282, Sunday 30th August
Hello👋
My name is James and I’m doing the Shelbourne junior parkrun Run Report this week, kindly nominated by Run Director Pauline😮😂.
I started the morning off doing the course check. Thankfully most of the course was dry and somehow we avoided the sudden downpours that took over the day.
My mam was quick to set up the speaker and played her new favourites songs. This helped all the volunteers settle in and welcomed the big crowd of grown ups and kids, to a great morning of parkrunning.
My volunteer role was Parkwalker this week. We usually don’t have enough volunteers to do the Parkwalker role, but this week we had two Parkwalkers!! Both Adam and I had a nice morning strolling around the 2km course at our own pace. Should any one be interested in getting in a few morning steps while the kids run, please let us know. We would be delighted with the help. Thank you to all our volunteers and a special thank you to our teenage volunteers Anna, James (me) and Adam. No age limit on volunteers!
Pauline made sure to welcome our first timers and dished out the Milestone Wristbands. Well done guys🥳
🎖️Eoin completed 75 runs
🎖️Shane completed 50 runs
🎖️Charlotte completed 25 runs
12 of you achieved new PBs, which I can guarantee was due to Pauline’s famous warmup routine, LOL!. Pity the speaker glitched out due to being overloaded by music 😂 but that didn’t stop the kids joining in the hops, feet in the air bops and the fun finisher of frog jumps (Killer I know!💀)
Hope to see you next week, either running or volunteering.
James.

Event #281, Sunday 23rd August 2026
Another fabulous morning at Shelbourne junior parkrun with balmy late summer weather and an atmosphere to match. We opened proceedings by welcoming four fantastic children to the Shelbourne family. Harry, Aeda, Rían and Louis thoroughly enjoyed their first outing on the tarmac of Shelbourne Park Playground We look forward to seeing you all again next Sunday when you get to continue your parkrun journey. Well done guys!
Louis’ sisters Mila and Ruby, along with Macy, were our milestoners today, picking up their 10, 25 & 25 event wristbands respectively. Maith sibh cailíní, here’s to the next target!
As it happens, Macy celebrated her notable achievement with a personal best time. PBs also today for Elsie, James, Ciarán, Clodagh and Oisín, kudos to you all!
As you all know, at Shelbourne juniors we are never bothered by speed or racing, our main currency is smiling! That said, we were delighted to see Shelbourne stalwart, Séadna, cross the line as first finisher today. Séadna turns up week in week out, regardless of the weather or the occasion, and gets his run done quietly and without any fuss. Finishing in pole position today, for the second time from his 84 runs, was a worthy accolade for fantastic a young man and athlete. Maith thú Séadna, keep her lit for the winter as you work towards that magical century!
Thanks to all of our volunteers today for a cracking event, we are very grateful for your time every Sunday morning.
Beir bua,
Ian.

Congratulations to Caoimhe who was 1st past the post in 8 mins 8 secs. Well done to the 10 children who achieved personal bests. These were Séadna, Daire, Sadhbh, Ruairí, Eoin, Aaron, Nicholas, Naoise, Treasa, and Oisín.
There was 7 first timers this weekend. A big shout out to the 6 children who completed their 1st ever parkrun. These are Rowan, Tara, Oisin, Quinn, Donnacha and Ellen. We hope you enjoyed the experience and hopefully see you back at Shelbourne juniors real soon. Welcome to Clara also who ran Shelbourne junior parkrun for the 1st time.
An honourable mention this week to one of our Run Directors, Máire, who is a stalwart volunteer at Shelbourne juniors and one of Ireland’s most decorated parkrunners. Máire only went and ran her 450th parkrun at Limerick parkrun on Saturday!!
On the subject of volunteers, we are looking for volunteers for next week #281 as some of our regulars are not available. If you have an interest in helping please contact Shelbourne juniors. Full training will be provided on the morning.
Yours in sport,
Marion O'Halloran

Sunday 9th August saw 44 budding participants, 14 volunteers and many parents and guardians don the paths of Shelbourne Park for our 279th event at this wonderful venue.
Run Director, Máire, kicked off the pre-event briefing by extending a warm Shelbourne juniors welcome to Ben who completed his very first parkrun. Hopefully the first of many Ben, well done!
Special mention this week to Ed who flew round the course, posting his fastest time since last summer. Second finishing Ed was sandwiched on the podium by speedy siblings Aaron and Thomas, the latter posting a personal best time in style by breaking 9 minutes for the first time! PBs also for his cousins Fionn and Ruby, along with Evie. Maith sibh ar fad 👏🏼
Kudos to our sole milestoner this week, Macy, who marked her 25th junior parkrun, all 25 at Shelbourne junior parkrun Macy is a staunch regular at our event and goes about her business quietly and without fuss every week. Here’s to the next 25 Macy 👏🏼
Thanks as always to our wonderful volunteers who keep this event going week in week out. If you’d like to help out some Sunday, please reach out. There’s a role for everyone and all training is provided.

Event #278, Sunday 2nd August 2026
Well done to everyone who joined us at Shelbourne junior parkrun this morning! We had 66 fantastic participants who ran, jogged, skipped and walked their way around the course. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces enjoying the morning!
A special welcome to our first timers, Oliver, Seoda, Zara and Carys. We also had visitors joining us from Switzerland and the UK. Thank you for coming to Shelbourne junior parkrun this morning, we hope you had a great time and that we'll see you again soon!
While we didn't have any new milestone wristbands to award today, we're looking forward to celebrating all of our recent junior parkrun milestone achievers as soon as the wristbands arrive. We can't wait to recognise those reaching their 10, 25, 50, 100 and 250 junior parkrun milestones!
A huge thank you, as always, to our volunteers. Our event simply couldn't happen without your time, enthusiasm and support. If you'd like to get involved over the coming weeks, we'd love to have you on the team! Just send us an email or speak to us after the event, and we'll happily add you to our volunteer WhatsApp group.
Have a fantastic week and we'll see you all next Sunday morning!
Jack
