Intermediate Football Championship Semi-Final (AET)
Na Piarsaigh 2-08 Cappagh 2-08
Our intermediate footballers are one game away from heading back to the senior ranks following a nail-biting penalty shootout win over Cappagh in Adare on Friday night. It would have appeared to be a beautiful night for football but as the cold weather set in, so did the dew. The forthcoming 80-90 minutes of football was to be riddled with slips and dropped balls, as well as some lovely passages of play.
The West Limerick men had the brighter start scoring a goal directly from a free, a placed ball at the edge of the D floating all the way into our net. We responded well with a point from Jack McCarthy before Dylan Cronin struck our first goal of the game, intercepting a wayward Cappagh pass to drop-shot the ball to the net. We outscored Cappagh by 4 points to 3 over the remainder of the half with Jack McCarthy popping up for his second in addition one from Kieran Daly and a pair from Evan Egan, one free and one from play. Truth be told we were doing well to be ahead as Cappagh’s efficiency in front of goal was very much leaving them down. This was to be the case all throughout the game. Score at half-time: Na Piarsaigh 1-05 Cappagh 1-03.
Cappagh made mincemeat of our lead at the start of the second period, leveling the tie early on before burning their second goal to go 3 ahead. Kieran Daly cut their lead to 2 points before Mark Hogan got our second goal with a peach of a finish, similar to the one he got in the quarter final against St. Pat’s. Cappagh levelled the game with a minute remaining. Neither side could take the advantage in injury time and normal time was blown. Score after normal time: Na Piarsaigh 2-06 Cappagh 2-06.
Cappagh went ahead from the throw-in before Tommy Grimes came up with a classy 2-pointer to put us ahead. It would be our only score of extra time as Cappagh went on to level the game again in the second period of said extra time. Penalties to come. Score at the end of extra-time: Na Piarsaigh 2-08 Cappagh 2-08.
Ralph Leonard buried our first penalty before Cappagh scored theirs. James Daly was to force a save out of the Cappagh keeper for our second before Eoghain Sherlock kept the scores level at 1-a-piece. Daniel Collins slotted our third before Sherlock saved for a second time in the shoot-out. Tommy Grimes stepped up to bury our fourth spot kick, making it 3-1 before Cappagh sent their last penalty wide to the right.
Our intermediate footballers are county final bound once again, having last won it in 2022. We went all the way to the Munster Final on that occasion also. Huge credit to Con and his management team for building such a strong squad this season, using all of 22 players on Friday night alone. Each of the subs introduced made an impact which is what you need when competing for a county title. Galbally will be our opponents in the county final which is fixed for the 31st of October. Time and venue to be confirmed.

U21 Hurling Championship Round 1:
Na Piarsaigh 0-16 Mungret 3-14
Our U21 hurlers came out on the wrong side of a thoroughly entertaining round 1 clash with Mungret on Sunday afternoon, in Mungret. It was a tight opening half with Mungret just edging it at half time thanks to a Fintan Fitzgerald goal inside 10 minutes. Shane Waters landed 5 placed balls in addition to points from Conor Bermingham and David O’Keeffe leaving us trailing by 2-points at half time. Na Piarsaigh 0-07 Mungret 1-06
Mungret extended their lead with another goal early in the second half. Credit to our lads as they didn’t drop the heads and brought the deficit back to a point with 15 minutes to play. Shane added 6 more placed balls, adding to points from Alex Kearns and a second from David O’Keeffe. Darragh Jordan played a blinder in goals, pulling off a handful of excellent saves over the hour, while John O’Keeffe excelled at full back, him having been abroad for the majority of the season. James Finn brought his senior form into Sunday’s match, giving a brilliant performance at centre back. A much sought after goal alluded us in the final quarter. We peppered the Mungret goal in the closing stages, only for them to clear their lines and bury one at the other end, putting the tie to bed. Mungret won the physical battle on Sunday, limiting us to 4 points from play. Regardless, there’s serious potential in this group with plenty of positives for Evan Condon and his management team to take into the later rounds of the championship.

Junior C Hurling Championship Semi-Final:
Na Piarsaigh 1-17 Garryspillane 5-06
Our Junior C hurlers suffered an agonising 1-point defeat to Garryspillane in the county semi-final last Monday evening in Páirc Uí Dromgúil. The age-old saying of goals win matches was certainly evident on the night as the Bouncers outscored us 5 to 1. Alas, our lads put in a stellar display from start to finish with Paul McNamara rolling back the years with his flawless performance on the frees, as well as Niall Buckley being introduced late on, levelling the game with an outrageous point from out on the sideline. We played some impressive hurling at multiple stages throughout with our Intermediate football keeper Eoghain Sherlock causing the Garryspillane defense plenty of headaches. Justin Nordon came away with a handful of exceptional scores also, with Alex Harris grabbing our goal in the first half. Huge credit to manager Tom Quinn and Cian Doherty for their selfless work in bringing this group from strength to strength since its inception three seasons ago. The improvement even since 2025 has been remarkable. Onwards and upwards for 2027.
