Senior seconds played out a very close match with UCC this weekend, with high level of hockey on display.
There was excellent attacking play from both sides, with flowing passing moves and plenty of circle action- including near misses and goal line clearances. But the score remained 0-0 until the final quarter when the game started to open up and Limerick exploited the space with fast attacks, and scored 2 goals to seal the win. Aoife L was sharpest to finish a move after a circle scramble , and Ellie scored the other, converting from close range following a powerful shot from the top of the circle. The whole team played excellent hockey but most impressive was their work rate and desire to take the win at the end. Solid teamwork with players coming off the bench to make impact. So many players had great performances- Aisling, Caoimhe Emma and Isobel in attack, Megan at the back and Kelly in goal . But standouts were Taine for a commanding display at the back, and Aoife M who lead by example covering every inch of the pitch and setting up the final goal.
