With over 12 Years of working with powerlifters, here’s a few things we’ve learnt over time…

It’s ok to ask for help: Our coaches are always there if you reach out

Progress takes time: be patient and enjoy the process

Externals are important: the most experienced powerlifters have a good grasp on their externals

A good training environment is underrated: good crew = gains

Momentum builds totals: leave ego at the door and see the bigger picture

Coaching is key: a great coach will work with you to achieve your goals

Balance is also key: live your life outside of the gym

Have fun & set some goals: enjoy the training process and take the small wins

Luke has years of experience training clients and with his own resistance training, we are excited to see Luke’s first hand experience with powerlifting and we wish him all the best in his first comp 🦾

Ladies in LIFTING 💞 part III

Next up in our series of getting to know our amazing women on the CityGym Powerlifting are Kate, Ava and Fathom

These amazing ladies are new to the sport but have been strength training for quite some time and have found powerlifting as a means of showcasing that strength

It’s always nice to hear first hand how powerlifting has benefited and completely changed someone’s outlook on what it means to be strong in only a short span of time

We look forward to seeing more of the girls back on the platform again in the near future ❤️🖤

Powerlifting is what we’re known for here in CityGym. But strength underpins much more than what we see on the platform. We have athletes from so many different sports growing stronger under CityGym.

One incredible athlete is long time member Rob Sheahan.

Rob joined us in 2015. Since he joined he has competed in powerlifting, gained an incredible amount of muscle for health reasons, been through a double lung and liver transplant and after all of that he took to swimming.

Today is Robs birthday. Today marks 7 years since Robs double lung and liver transplant. And we’re proud to say that today Rob took a gold medal home for Ireland in the European Transplant Games.

The Transplant Games are an international multi-sport set of events designed for organ and bone marrow transplant recipients. The games aim to celebrate life after transplantation, honour donors and raise global awareness about organ donation. There’s no better ambassador for celebrating life than the legend that is Rob Sheahan. A true gent and an amazing person and athlete.

A huge congrats to Rob ☘️🇮🇪💚
