🚨Annual Capsize Drill 🚨
With the good weather we’ve been having, some of our members completed their annual capsize drill this week.
A skill every rower needs to master especially in coastal rowing!

A slightly bigger boat than we’re used to at our morning session this morning!
Great to be part of the flotilla of local boats welcoming the Spanish Armada ship to our waters this morning. 🇪🇸

Irish Masters Coastal Championships 2026 🏆
An eventful weekend with all racing moved to the Sunday due to unrowable conditions on the Saturday.
The composite M50 CMix2X of Lena and Colm (Commercial RC) retained their All Ireland title for another year, crossing the line in first place during the first race at a chilly 06:30am! 🥇
Lena then hopped straight into the scull for the Women’s M50 C1X in tough, coastal conditions where she finished in 4th position. 👏🏻
Next up was the composite Women’s M50 C4X+ of Shirley, Lena, Annie (Dolphin RC) and Joan (Donegal Bay RC) who kindly hopped in last minute when due to the racing being postponed Bridget could no longer row. Dineka also drove up from Dublin last minute to cox the ladies to another medal, crossing the line in third place. 🥉
Finishing out the days racing, the composite double of Shirley & Annie (Dolphin RC) came 5th in the Women’s M50 C2X, only beaten by M40’s rowers so they are still M50’s champions in our eyes!! 🌟
Thanks to our fellow rowing clubs that helped loan us boats and to our supporters & helpers as always. 🙏
And thanks to Olderfleet Rowing Club for organising and running the event!
