Tomorrow is a very special day for Newport RFC as history will be made at Rockvale Park.

For the first time Garryowen/Newport Ladies will take to the field at Rockvale, when they face Ennis 2nds in the Women’s Munster Division 2 Cup.

This is about far more than just one game of rugby. It is another important chapter in the story of our club and something everyone involved with Newport RFC can be incredibly proud of.

Over the years so many people have given their time energy and support to help Newport RFC grow. From our minis and youths right through to our adult teams the aim has always been to make Rockvale a place where rugby can develop, friendships can be made and everyone has the opportunity to pull on a jersey and represent their club.

Tomorrow we take another big step forward.

Seeing a ladies team running out at Rockvale is something we are immensely proud of. We are delighted to be working alongside Garryowen and, most importantly, to see these women getting the opportunity to represent Garryowen/Newport in competitive Munster rugby.

To every player taking the field tomorrow, enjoy the occasion. You are part of a little piece of history for Newport RFC, and we hope it is only the beginning of many more great days for women’s rugby at Rockvale.

A huge thank you as well to the coaches, officials, volunteers, families and supporters who continue to help make days like this possible. A rugby club is built by its people, and tomorrow is another reminder of just how far Newport RFC has come.

We would love to see a big Newport crowd at Rockvale to welcome the ladies, get behind them and make their first game here one to remember.
