U13 Boys Newtown FC 5:3 Stonepark
Under 13 boys
Newtown 5-3 Stonepark
Gavin Dorr ⚽⚽⚽
Finn Manning ⚽⚽
Our under 13 boys took on Stonepark this morning in Abbeycartron.
Conditions were perfect for 2 evenly balanced teams. Our lads got off to a great start, when after 60 seconds a through ball by Conor McKeon was latched onto by Gavin Dorr who slotted the ball home. Gavin made it 2-0 after 4 minutes, when another through ball by Sean Kiernan, put Gavin in one on one with the last Stonepark player. He took on his man, got by him and buried it into the bottom corner. Gavin completed his hat-trick on 9 minutes, when yet another through ball, this time by Mark Gallagher, put Gavin in on the keeper and he rolled it by him into the bottom corner. 3-0 at half time.
Into the second half and after 2 minutes a great ball by Finn Columb put Finn Manning in. Finn M took on his man and from a tight angle, he beat the keeper at his near post. After 7 minutes Stonepark pulled a goal back from a corner. The ball was played in and after a scramble in the box, it was hammered into the back of the net. 10 minutes into the second half, Mark Gallagher intercepted a cross field ball. He raced into the box and just as he was about to pull the trigger, a last ditch tackle took the ball away from him. The ball broke to Finn M who put it in the bottom corner. Yet again, Stonepark hit back with another goal from a corner. The ball broke in the box and a shot was brilliantly saved by Paidi Reilly. The ball broke out to an unmarked Stonepark player, who slotted it home. Into the last few minutes, Alex Atomei made a great run into the box and was fouled. Alex stepped up and buried the ball into the bottom corner....6-2 or so we thought! The ball hit the back stanchion and came back out. As our players celebrated the ref played on and Stonepark stormed down the field and scored their third goal of the day.
The game finished a few minutes later in what was a very competitive game between both sides. 2 wins in a row sees us push up the table, with a home game against Ardagh to look forward to in a few weeks time.
