🏆 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐥 Ó𝐠 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐔𝟏𝟒 𝐃𝐢𝐯 𝟏 𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥
𝐀𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝟕-𝟏𝟔 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝟐-𝟎𝟓

Aghada U14's produced a superb display of hurling in Rostellan yesterday evening to claim the Shield title with a comprehensive victory over Castlelyons.
Aghada got off to a flying start, playing some fantastic hurling and taking their chances brilliantly. It took Castlelyons 21 minutes to register their first score, by which stage Aghada had already found the net three times and added six points, opening up a commanding lead.
Goals came from Bobby Creedon, Cathal Lehane, Mason Sheehan and Dara Kelleher, who struck twice in the first half, as Aghada went in at the break leading 5-10 to 0-2.
The second half continued in much the same vein, with Aghada maintaining their dominance and adding two more goals. Mason Sheehan found the net again before Bobby Creedon grabbed his second of the evening.
Castlelyons battled on and added to their tally, but Aghada were never in danger of surrendering their advantage. Jayden Halpin's point sailed over and the final whistle blew and confirmed a deserved 7-16 to 2-05 victory and Shield Final success.
Well done to all the players and mentors on an outstanding team performance!
This group is enjoying a fantastic run of form and will have another final to look forward to next Wednesday, 28th, when they take on St Catherine’s in the Hurling League Final at home in Rostellan.

As the cold was felt in Caherlag this evening, so too was the disappointment for Aghada as the final whistle sounded on a heartbreaking one-point defeat in this straight knockout championship.

Erin’s Own came flying out of the blocks, registering 1-3 before Aghada got their first score on the board. However, our lads showed great composure to fight their way back into the game, with the ever-accurate Bobby O’Riordan and Jack Kelleher keeping the scoreboard ticking over from frees and play. By the 19th minute, the gap had been reduced to just a single point.
Erin’s Own responded with a run of scores to open up a five-point advantage, but Aghada refused to let the game slip away. Two more frees and a superbly taken goal from Alex Lacy-Tortora right on the stroke of half-time brought the sides level at 1-08 apiece at the break, leaving everything to play for.
The second half was a tense and tightly contested affair, with both sides trading points. Then, in the 47th minute, the ever-pacy Lorcan Evans burst forward and drove the ball to the back of the net, putting Aghada into the lead at 2-12 to 1-13.
Two further points, a free from Bobby O’Riordan and a wonderfully struck effort from Andrew Walsh, extended Aghada’s advantage to four points with eight minutes remaining. The lads continued to work tirelessly, keeping Erin’s Own at bay, and a point from Ben Duggan in the 58th minute left Aghada three ahead at 2-15 to 1-15.
As we all know, that three-point lead is almost the dangerous one, and Erin’s Own were on the hunt. Dara Kelleher, pulled off a number of outstanding saves, and a crucial goal-line clearance from our defence but Erin’s Own somehow managed to force the ball over the line for a vital goal with just a minute remaining, bringing the sides level.
The closing moments were helter-skelter, with both teams desperately searching for the winning score. Sadly, it was Erin’s Own who found it, pointing a late free in the dying seconds to edge ahead by the narrowest of margins.
The final whistle brought a heartbreaking end to Aghada’s U15 championship , with the scoreboard reading Aghada 2-15, Erin’s Own 2-16.
There is no disguising the disappointment for our lads, particularly at this straight knockout stage. However, they can hold their heads high after an incredible battle, fighting back from an early deficit, refusing to drop their heads and pushing a very strong Erin’s Own side right to the final whistle.
An outstanding team performance, full of heart, courage and determination. Just an unlucky result on the night. Well done to all the players and coaches on a fantastic effort. 🇳🇬

A fantastic win for our U14 P2 footballers to round off their season in style under lights in Rostellan on Friday night.🏐
The first half was a tight affair, Aghada got off to a flying start with an early goal from Dara Kelleher, and by the 10th minute we were 1-02 to no score ahead. Corey O'Leary and Ronan Callanan contributed some excellent points as Aghada looked sharp in the opening stages.
Kilmurry battled back strongly, and with both sides trading scores, the momentum swung their way as they struck for a goal just before half-time to lead by 1-06 to 1-04.
However, Aghada came out strong in the second half and Aghada were awarded a penalty in the 36th minute, which Andrew Walsh calmly dispatched to level the game. From there, the boys raised their performance, winning possession and battling hard across the field. James Connelly was outstanding in defence, making crucial clearances and helping to keep Kilmurry at bay. Meanwhile, Ronan Callanan continued to make a strong impact in midfield, working tirelessly. Dara Kelleher grabbed his second goal with a lovely pass inside from Andrew, putting Aghada back on the front foot. With 10mins to go
Seán Ryan then won possession in midfield and delivered a perfect pass to the onrushing Adam O'Loughlin, who finished brilliantly. And with 5mins on the clock the 5th goal came when Ronan Callanan spotted Andrew Walsh free inside and delivered a pinpoint pass for Andrew to finish and secure our fifth goal and ultimately seal the victory.
Kilmurry added a late goal, but Aghada were the shield winners, full time Aghada 5-07 Kilmurry 2-10.
👏 Well done to this fantastic bunch of lads and their coaches with everyone playing their part in a great win.
