Weekend Review
MCU Prem | 1s lose by 11 runs to County Kerry Cricket Club
Kerry set a testing total of 252/6 which was built on a solid opening stand from their openers. Ali, Safi and the recently returned Jose claiming 2 wickets each.
We had two promising partnerships up top to set us off in the chase, with the red hot once again bagging another half-century (65). Unfortunately, we then lost regular wickets and fell behind the rate, and ultimately came up 11 runs short. Special mention to Adeel who's 41 got us to within touching distance of the target.
MCU Div5 | 4s win by 6 wickets v Cork County Cricket Club 4s
A disciplined bowling & fielding display saw us take wickets at regular intervals, and ensured County's scoring rate was always kept in check. It was pleasing to see all the bowler's contribute, with Isaac being the pick of the bunch (3-22).
In reply, the fireworks came from Jaspal Sandhu (25 from 15 balls), but both Isaac (33*) and Santosh (39) played vital knocks to anchor the innings, and enabled us to chase with relative ease. Well done on another win!

Weekend Review
MCU Div1 | 2s won by 95 runs against Limerick Cricket Club
continued with his magic summer, and his 81 gave us the foundation for a competitive score. The middle order all chipped in with some runs but it was Fayyaz Khan (54* from 39 balls) who gave the needed impetuous for us to reach 238/6. The bowler's were than able to back up the 1st innings with a disciplined display. Faraz nabbed three (3/34), while Fayyaz Khan capped off a fine alround display with 2 wickets.
MCU Div4 | 3s won by 5 runs against County Kerry Cricket Club 4s
Sunday saw a high scoring back-and-forth thriller at Towns Park. A solid opening partnership and 50s from senior men Nitin Patil (79) and Dean Wilson (59) saw us at 195/2 with 8 overs to go. Despite a quickfire 34 from Arun, a flurry of wickets saw us bowled out for 248
In their innings, Kerry were 179-2 with plenty of overs to spare and WinViz having them at 96%. However, up stepped with a game-changing spell that swung the momentum in our favour. Noah, Atif and Dean were then able to finish the job; with Dean bowling their no11 with the final ball of the game. Those of us lucky enough to be there still haven't recovered from the drama!!!
MCU Div5 | 4 lost by 3 runs to Nenagh Cricket Club
Our 4s unfortunately came out on the wrong side of another MCU thriller. We bowled out Nenagh for 176, with captain Saikumar once again leading the attack with a brace of wickets. He was ably supported by Kabir (2-29), Sugadev (3-26) and Peter (2-14).
In our batting innings, early wickets put us on the backfoot, but a 50 partnership between Santosh (24) and Ali (23) kept us in the hunt. Upon their dismissals, regular wickets fell, and despite a lower order rally, we just couldn't get over the line. Special mention to club legend Kashif Khan, who came out of retirement to play the game.

Weekend Review
MCU Prem | 1s beat Galway by 2 wickets
Galway made a par score of 249/8 with all the bowler's chipping in. (60) and Abubakar Saddique Wattoo (67) put on a 130 run opening partnership and the chase seemed straightforward, but a middle order collapse meant squeaky bum time. Thankfully, Murad held his nerve to hit 49* and saw us to victory.
MCU Div 1 | 2s lost to Blasters by 2 wickets
After electing to bat, a well made 47 from Shan and a lower order 50* from saw us get to 223. Our bowler's made sure it went right to the wire, with both Christian and Ali picking up 3fers but Limerick Blasters managed to sneak over the line
MCU Div4 | 3s lost to unitedcricketclonmel by 69 runs
We had Clonmel at 21-3, but, although the opposition benefited from a dodgy decision (sorry I went there but twas dreadful), a chanceless century from their no4 and lower order hitting put the game out of reach. We were indebted to two great all round performances from club legend Dean Wilson (63* & 4-43) and Arun (34 & 1-43) to put some respectability to the scoreline
MCU Div5 | 4s beat County 4s by 4 wickets
Arguably the result of the weekend, after losing to the same opposition heavily in the t20s. An all round bowling display led by captain Saikumar (3-34) saw us restrict County to 173/9. A solid opening partnership set the platform in the chase before runs from Santosh and a 50 from Happy helped us secure victory.

Good evening out for us last night against the touring Great Totham Cricket Club
Good old fun was had, especially by the oppo! Not sure what the end result was, but it was definetly secondary to the spirit of cricket!

3s suffer defeat to County Kerry Cricket Club 4s
We were sent into bat in our key league fixture against a strong kerry side. Raja King once again got us off to a strong start hitting a breezy 54. However, his dismissal brought about minor collapse and saw us go from 76/1 to 144/8. A total of 200+ seemed out of reach, but some late order fireworks from Rehan SamAii got us to 212.
3 wickets in five balls saw us have Kerry in real trouble at 26/3 in their batting innings. Unfortunately for us, their number 4 played a game of an innings and won kerry the game. Some solace for the people of kerry after their all ireland defeat!
Midleton 3s 212
Raja 54 (37)
Jaspal Sandhu 35 (26)
Rehan 42 (29)
Kerry 4s 213/6
Naveengoud Siddotam 2/24
Nitin Patil. 2/43

Junior Cup Bound 🏏💪
Well done to our 2s who secured passage to the Junior Cup final after a comprehensive win against Cork Harlequins Cricket Club.
Asked to bowl by visitors, they were soon rueing their decision after an opening spell burst by Christian saw Harlequins 4 down with only 1 run on the board. They did recover to some extent to reach a total of 146, with each of the bowler's chipping in with a wicket. Christian finished with the extraordinary figures of 5-9.
Although the target of 147 was on the lower side, given the nature of the occasion and overhead conditions we thought it would be tricky. These pre-innings thoughts proved to be wide of the mark as a match-winning 50 from Naman Gandhi gave us the stable platform needed for such a chase. As a result, we were always in control and the other batters were able to chip-in and see us win by 5 wickets
Harlequins 2nd xi 146
Christian 5-9
Midleton 2nd xi 149-5
Naman 50
Adeel 29*

Week Review
MCU Premier | 1s lost by 185 runs to Cork County Cricket Club
The 1's endured a heavy defeat to Cork County in the league. After County decided to bat we had them 89-5 but runs from their lower and middle order saw them finish on 249. We struggled from the off in our batting innings, and only three batsmen reached double figures. Star on the day was Abubakar Saddique Wattoo who continued his good form with ball claiming a 5fer. We go again as they say!
MCU Div 1 | 2s win by 150runs v Clare Cricket Club
Sent in to bat by Clare on a hot day, we managed to set a challenging total of 283/7. The foundations of which were built by a mammoth 164 run partnership between Zuhair and captain Bala Suresh. Bala got his first 50 of the season, while the in-form Zuhair continued his purple patch with another ton! In their chase, a tired Clare never looked like getting close to the target. The wickets were shared amongst the bowlers with Naveengoud Siddotam (3-16) and Danish claiming 3fers, while Nitin Patil got two wickets.
Great day out at the mardyke for some of our u11s yesterday.
Some fantastic skills and teamwork on display, which only bettered by the smiles!
Thanks to Cork County Cricket Club for having us and it was really well organised!

Week review
1s | Munster Senior Cup | Lost by 6 wickets Cork Harlequins Cricket Club
After losing regular wickets, we set Harlequins 142 to win, with only Majid and Shabir scoring over 30 runs. We managed to get them 31/4 thanks to a 4fer from Safi. However, it proved to be the only time we had them under pressure, and Harlequins ended up chasing comfortably.
2s | Div 1 | Lost by 3 wickets to Cork County Cricket Club 2s
Once again we lost wickets up top, and thus we were on the back foot early on. However, useful contributions from our middle and lower order (Bala, Faraz and Christian) saw us get to a defendable total.
Danish (3-35) and Christian (2-8) made early in roads and it looked as if we were in with a chance, however a valuable 50 partnership for the visitors saw them chase our total.
3s | Div4 | Won by 5 wickets v Limerick Blasters
We bowled first on a hot day in limerick and managed to take regular wickets throughout and had the Blaster at 129/8. Their no8 then preceeded to hit a hard hitting 50 and enabled them to reach a score of 204. Pick of the bowler's was who took 3 wickets, with a special mention to Ian Lambe who got his 1st wicket for the 3s.
Fortunately our chase was pitch perfect and well constructed right from the off, with big partnerships for the 1st and 2nd wickets. Nitin Patil scored a fifty, while and Happy also had good contributions. शुभम भूषण खोपडे was then able to finish it off with a 22 ball 29, and saw us home with 3 overs to spare!
