Strength Workshop — Squat, Bench & Deadlift
SUNDAY, February 8th | Elite Gym 10AM-11AM
Most people think lifting heavier is about looking good.
It’s actually about staying capable as you age.
In this workshop, we’ll teach you how to perform and improve the squat, bench press, and deadlift — the three lifts that most closely reflect real-life strength: standing up, lifting, carrying, and protecting your body under load.
You’ll learn:
• How to lift safely and efficiently
• How to build strength without wrecking your joints
• How to train for progress, not punishment
Why this matters for real life:
✔ Stronger bones
Heavy, well-controlled lifting is one of the strongest signals your body gets to maintain bone density.
✔ Preserve muscle as you age
Muscle loss accelerates after 40. Strength training is the most effective way to slow or reverse it.
✔ Fall prevention & injury resilience
Strong legs, hips, and trunk = better balance, faster reactions, and more protection when things go wrong.
✔ Daily life is easier
Getting up off the floor, lifting shopping bags, carrying kids, climbing stairs — all depend on strength.
This workshop isn’t about becoming a powerlifter.
It’s about building the kind of strength that keeps you independent, capable, and confident for decades.

Now that Bike for Blackrock has officially come to an end, we wanted to take a moment to look back on what has been one of the most inspiring months we’ve ever had here at Elite gym.
Throughout October, our members came together for a cause very close to our hearts, raising funds for Blackrock Hospice, an incredible organization that provides compassionate, end-of-life care and support to those who need it most.
We set out with two big goals, to collectively reach 15,000 kilometres through biking, rowing, skiing, running, and walking, and to raise €15,000 in donations.
Thanks to the unbelievable effort, generosity, and community spirit of our members, we didn’t just meet those goals, we smashed them!!
Together, you covered over 16,000 kilometres and raised a staggering €20,638 for Blackrock Hospice 💙
Every kilometre logged, every euro donated, and every bit of encouragement shared made a difference. This challenge wasn’t just about fitness, it was about coming together, pushing for something bigger than ourselves, and showing what this community is truly capable of.
To everyone who took part, donated, or supported from the sidelines, thank you. You’ve made a real impact, and we couldn’t be prouder of the incredible people who make up this gym.
Here’s to community, compassion, and the power of coming together 💪💙

PS: You don’t need to run a marathon to have the same accomplished feeling and the same level of support from both our coaches and members 👀
You see what we do is truly quite special
Each of our members is working toward something unique to them. But regardless of what the goal is the feeling on the other side is always the same:
Pride
Joy
Fulfilment
Satisfaction
Gratitude
And above, all complete, positive overwhelm that comes from proving to yourself what you’re capable of
You see most of us have had that feeling before
We just haven’t had it in so long because as we get older we become more and more fearful of trying something new, or pushing ourselves to achieve something we never thought possible.
So what I’d love you to do is just reflect on that for a second
Now ask yourself:
✨ What’s that one thing I’ve been wanting to try
✨ What’s that one thing I’d love to do for myself
And then give yourself permission to go ahead and take the first step

Can we take a moment for our marathon supporters? 🫶
Nearly every small group gym these days is saying things like
“We’re more than just a gym”
And
“It’s all about community”
But this weekend painted the picture of what a real community actually looks like
Our crew stood out in the cold and the rain for hours, with nothing but smiles on their faces, ready to cheer our marathon runners on
If that’s not the purest sign of community, we don’t know what is
Help us thank them for the impact they had on the day 👏
And swipe to the end to see what it meant to our runners →→→

Massive congrats to our runners who took on the Dublin Marathon this weekend 🏃
Every person you see here has their own reason for doing it
To challenge themselves
To try something new
To raise awareness
To raise money for charity
Or to see what they’re truly capable of
Most aren’t athletes
They’re everyday people with jobs, families, and busy lives who decided to take on a challenge and stick with it
That’s what it’s all about
Showing up, doing the work, and realising you’re capable of more than you think you think you are
If you were out supporting, you’ll know how much it meant to every single person crossing that line
Drop a 👏 to show you support
And for those who are asking, here’s how they got on 😍

Update from France:
has made it over the line after a multi day 700km cycle from Paris to Niece 😮😍
Before the event had even started, she had spent over 150 hours in the saddle, ridden over 2,000 kilometres and climbed nearly 30,000 metres in the Dublin, Wicklow and Kerry mountains.
Today she completed the event and in doing so has raised over 10,000 euro for the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland 💙
She said:
“Without the incredible support of the trainers and alumni, and my coach .hollyellis and all of the trainers at , the physical challenge to cycle 700km between Paris and Nice would have seemed impossible”
“It was the hardest physical challenge I think i have ever done!!’
Siobhan,
We are so so proud of you
But more importantly, hope you are you feeling prouder than ever of yourself 🙏
Comment 👏 to join us in the celebrations

We always say:
It’s not about the gym.
The gym isn’t the focal point, and it’s never training just for training’s sake.
It’s about what your training leads to outside of the gym
✨ More energy to get up and go
✨ More strength to enjoy the things you love
✨ More confidence to try new things you never thought possible
This weekend our members proved exactly that at the Very Pink Run 🏃♀️💗
Because the gym is just the tool
The real win is living a life that feels bigger, stronger, and more fulfilling than ever 💪
Like this post to celebrate everyone who took part
Wether it was a run or a walk, a 5k first or one of many, a PB or simply getting yourself over the line
Well done 👏

Have you ever felt intimidated walking into a gym?
You don’t know if you’re doing the exercise right
You’re not sure if the weight’s too heavy or too light?
And in the back of your head you’re thinking “God I look so stupid right now?”
That kind of self-doubt kills progress.
You end up holding back, skipping sessions, or worse, picking up an injury because no one ever showed you the right way.
You then start to think “the gym just isn’t for me”
Let me tell you something though
Most people don’t quit the gym because they can’t hack it
They quit because they’ve been lost down the back of a big-box gym where no one comes over to help and everyone else looks like they know what they’re doing
And they’re left too afraid to ask in fear of looking stupid.
Please know it’s not YOU that has failed.
It’s the approach that has failed YOU.
And that is why we like to take a different approach.
One where you’ll get your own personalised programme AND a coach right by your side to help direct, teach and guide you every single day you’re in
So instead of feeling like you’re on display, you’ll be in with a small crew who are all figuring it out together.
Coaching in a small group not only helps you stay committed to your goals, but connects you with a supportive community of like-minded individuals on a similar journey to you
It’s personal coaching + community
And it equals real results

If you’ve been chasing the scales for years, it’s time to start looking at what really matters
If you’re anything like me, your first exposure to ‘the gym’ was through the lens of weight loss
Maybe you’ve joined a gym in the past specifically to lose weight
Maybe you’ve spent years reading articles and magazines that only ever pushed the ‘skinny’ motive
Maybe you met a coach and the first thing they did was put you on a scales
Or maybe all you’ve ever heard from trainers was weight loss, weight loss, weight loss.
If that’s the case then listen up
Unfortunately
{And I will say for women in particular}
This is where the fitness industry has got it wrong.
Of course, aiming to stay within a healthy body fat percentage is important
I’m not denying that
BUT
If this is the only thing you’re focusing on, you could be selling yourself short.
The true sign of progress goes way beyond bodyweight
Let’s flip the script and start looking for the strongest, healthiest, fittest, most confident, most capable version of yourself yet!
Because those are the changes that don’t just transform your body, they transform your life.

“Great place to be a part of, can really make you hit any goals you might have”
Is exactly what Gavin said in just one of our tonnes of 5 star Google reviews.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again;
When you have a coach who really listens and understands
And when you have a programme tailored specifically for you and your goals, and at the speed you’re able to make change, in a community of like minded people, you won’t believe what you’re truly capable of.
But don’t just take my word for it
