Presidents Prize day in Lough Owel,
We had a great day thanks to David Kiernan and all the people who are working so hard on the course .
On a damp windy day everyone shot the lights out today , in a very competitive and close competition.
3rd was Toejoe Sweeney , again in top 3 with a great 95 in an 18n18g competition.
2nd was Niall Kinahan .
Ist Dean Dinnegan for second major in a row and playing his best pitch and putt . 2 holes in one today helped him pip Niall by one shot .
Mark Kelly won the visitors prize shooting a great 9 under gross .
Considering the conditions the scores were unreal .

President Prize tomorrow for Davie Champ Kiernan at 11 am Sunday . Lough Owel will be closed until 4 pm .
Should be a great crowd for the Longford man who has worn the Westmeath Jersey with more pride than any Westmeath man.

Course closed until Friday 5th due to chemicals being used .

What a wonderful day we had in Lough Owel today , a charity 4 ball competition for the RNLI for our friend Alan TinTin Kennedy .76 players 19 teams competed on a lovely day . The atmosphere was incredible, tea cakes and a smell of Barbeque floating around it would be easy to be distracted . I'm sure our friend would have loved today .
Thank you Cassidys funeral home, Castle pollard for the prizes and the RNLI for the gorgeous trophy.

In 2nd 3 putt Lee Lynches team , 36 nett ,
Winners lough Owel A Holes , Niall McAteer , Shane Kinahan , Dinger Dinnegan ,and Toejoe Sweeney 35 nett , an incredible 40 gross scored .
That scored would win every competition in lough owel every time.Incredible.

Last night we had the final of the Kinahan league , with all to play for in section A , up to -7 handicap, 4 people in the running , Dozzer , the reigning champ , Mark Newman , Dean Dinnegan and Sean Dinnegan . With everything to play for Sean shot an impressive 15 under to take the nightly points and overall victory . Mark Newman recently joined Lough Owel , and we are delighted to have him . Mark won his first Overall scratch Cup on the Monster and loves the place came second overall just pipping Dozzer .
In section b , 7 and over handicap, we had a clear winner . County junior star Neil Hannigan playing great stuff.
In second place we had Pauric Flynn , who is always in with chance ,and when he turns up in a nett competition, we are all in trouble.
Well done all with super numbers every week .
Lough Owel is the winner with so many brilliant players and characters .

Today we had our Captains prize for our captain Niall McAteer .22 players fought it out on a perfect day on an amazing course.
Full credit to Paul Devaney who takes care of the place with such commitment.
Niall Mcateer is so popular in Lough Owel and in pitch and putt in Westmeath. A big part of the Westmeath senior team that is on the rise and will without doubt challenge for trophies this year, aftercoming so close last year.
Our visitors prize second went to Gerry Coyne , Niall s Westmeath playing partner, with 13 under , and winner was Mark Kelly who shot 15 under nett.
In 4th place we had our superstar of the future ,Mark Daly , 93 nett..unbelievable scoring.
3rd Toejoe Sweeney, who also won the hole in one prize , who seems to be collecting prizes every week .
2nd was Laurence of Arabia look alike Dozzer Donnelly , who told me not to post incase Sally sees the envelope.
Winner Dean Dinnegan , 9 under gross , and playing consistently brilliant this year , will surely be senior soon.
Regularly shooting the best Goss scores in Lough Owel which is tough to do with the caliber of players in out club.
