The Club will be closing for summer break this week, enjoy the break.
We would also like to wish Councillor Emily Wallace the best of luck in the local council elections. She has been very helpful to the Club.

4th Irish title for Carley O Herron winning her final by unanimous decesion. Back to the canvassing now.
The best of luck to Carley O Herron (pictured on the right during a recent spar with a very good girl from Spartacus) in her Cadet final tommorow in the National Stadiun
Training off this evening and tommorow folks. Back thursday evening.
Rochfortbridge Boxing Club have another All Ireland Champion to add to the list as Sienna O Herron claimed victory in her all Ireland final winning all 3 rounds against a strong girl from Dungannon, Sieana won both her semi final and final by unanimous decesion. Her semi final was an outstanding performance against a classy boxer from Golden gloves, who incidentally was just as classy after the decesion. The final was a much messier affair, but Sieanna again won all 3 rounds comfortably and is getting better and better all the time, and when she gets to big sister Carleys level of commitment will be something a little out of the ordinary. Her sister Carley was a bit unlucky not to claim another Irish title, losing a split decesion in a final we thought she could have won, but it was not one of Carleys better performances, her hard semi final the day before may have drained the tank, Carley was outstanding in that semi final against a top class girl from Dunfanaghy, the challenge now is consistency over the course of the competitions.
In our other all Ireland final Ava Nevin who is one of the most improved boxers in the club, could possibly have won her bout if some of the judges in round 1 had given her that round, a round which she clearly won, we dont make excuses in Rochfortbridge BC we learn and move on, but suffice to say we think some of the judges should do likewise.
Ava is a really promising boxer with great balance and a lot of power, and when it all comes together will have lots of big boxing days.
Cathal Kealy who only started boxing this season is another who was a bit unlucky not to have won his semi final, losing out on a 3/2 split decesion, but a tentative first round from Cathal really left a bit to much to do, but boxing in the National Stadium for the first time against experienced opponents is a daunting proposition and not for the feint of heart. And Cathal defintely has plenty of that and is made for big days, he showed whats in the genes in that final round and was unlucky not to have stopped his opponent with some very hard head turning shots. Cathal had an oustanding win in his Leinster final showing a touch of real class and hints of whats to come, his challenge now is to focus and work hard, and if he does that, this lad will become a big name in boxing.
Last but certainly not least was Brian Curley who due to disrupted preparation did not participate in the finals, Brian had a good Leinster final win, and is after Mick Nugent probably one of the hardest punchers that has been inside the door of the club, if Brian committs fully to training and lets those shots go is capabale of beating anyone.
What a performance from Ava, she boxed fantastic but unfortunately not in the eyes of the judges, and while not disputing the result and taking nothing away from her very strong opponent we are nevertheless disapointed with some of the judgeing. Particularly round 1 which Ava lost 3/2, which was very hard to understand. Anyway well done to her opponent, she was great and good luck to her.
But whats most important was the performance in only her second contest and we are very proud of her. If Ava continues to improve she will win it out next season.
Well done Sieanna all Ireland Champ, next up Ava
Best of luck to Sieana O herron and Ava Nevin in their all Ireland finals tommorow night in the National stadium. Go get em girls.
Not to be for Cathal Kealy losing a 3/2 split decesion in his semi final bout this evening. A tentative first round leaving him with a little to much to do, but Cathal came on strong as contest wore on. Considering he only began boxing this season he will benifit hugely from the experience and we expect Cathal is going to be a real handful for everyone he meets next season.
Fantastic display from Sienna, winning every round against a very good girl from Golden Gloves and now joins Ava in the final on friday evening.
Next up this evening is Cathal Kealy.
The best of luck to Sieanna O Herron in her all Ireland semi final today and Cathal Kealy who boxes in his semi final this evening.
Unlucky Carley losing out on a contest we thought she had won, was the cleaner puncher in all 3 rds imo. But thats boxing and super well done to her very worthy opponent. Onto the cadets for Carley now.
On to the final tommorow after a fantastic performance from Carley against a very good girl from Dunfanaghy.
Best of luck to Carley O Herron in her All Ireland semi final tommorow
Many thanks to Dealgan BC for the excellent spars this morning.
5 Leinster Champions from 5 competitors, caps a great couple of weeks for Rochfortbridge BC.
Our boxers managed to keep a clean sheet at both the Boy/Girl 4 & 5 and the B/G 1-2-3 Leinster championshiops over the last number of weeks, we had 5 boxers compete and all 5 became champions. All our boxers boxed really well throughout the Championships. But we were particularily pleased with those competing for the first time who all showed great promise and will take great confidence from winning out their first competition.
First up was Double European medalist Carley O Herron , her G4 43 kg Leinster final opponent withdrew with illness giving Carley a fourth Leinster Title.
Next Brian Curley Y1 91 kg who had a good contest against a very big opponent from Sparticus BC, Brian winning by unanimous decesion.
Then in the B/G 1-2-3 first up was Sieanna O Herron G1 43 kg who had an excellent semi final win against a very tough girl from Sacre Couer, and again in the final where she was a bit to strong for her game lively opponent from St Brigids Kildare, the contest being stopped stopped in the first round.
Next in was Ava Nevin G1 57kg who is not long boxing and showed great promise winning her final against a very tough girl from st Brigids Edenderry having her hand raised after a third rd stoppage.
Last but most certainly not least we had Cathal Kealy in the 59kg Boy 2 final, Cathal who only started boxing this season was excellent in a very exciting ding d**g battle with a very game and hard punching lad from Setenta Bc. A great contest for both boys.
Our focus now switches to the All Ireland finals in the National Stadium over the coming weeks.
No training tonight folks, can Leinster winners bring their certs with them tommorow night and club tops
Well done Cathal Kealy winning a very exciting final by unanimous decesion and joins our 2 other champs in the all Ireland finals, we were fortunate to get 3 champions from 3 entrys for the club.
Well done Sieanna O Herron and Ava Nevin the clubs latest Leinster Champions, both girls winning by stopage and now go onto the all Ireland finals. The best of luck to our remaining finalist Cathal Kealy who boxes tomorow.
