A big day tomorrow for the last round of this year’s ICCR season, with some championships yet to be decided. One of note is the Fiesta ST class, which will feature a close fight between Derek Graham and Charlie McKillen.

Graham holds the points advantage both in overall standings and with the drop round applied, but the momentum is with McKillen after a win in Kirkistown.

McKillen, from Wicklow, has been nominated for Motorsport Ireland’s prestigious young driver of the year award. The battle will be intense tomorrow!

Mark Webber was about 13 years ahead of Elon Musk.

Mark Webber suffered a dramatic high-speed crash on June 27, 2010, during the European Grand Prix at the Valencia Street Circuit. Webber went airborne at approximately 190mph after crashing with the rear wing Heikki Kovalainen’s car.

It was a nasty crash, but Mark walked away without injury!

If Carlsberg did race day’s, it wouldn’t be far off Jack Conachy’s in Knockhill 🙌.

The Irish Global Lights championship took to the Scottish countryside for their latest round and it was the Armagh man who excelled, taking his first pole position and first race win in the class.

Conachy now holds the lap record at the circuit in the Global Lights class, which adds to his existing lap record at Kirkistown in the Fiesta ST car.

Offaly based TD Tony McCormack confirmed last weekend that Irish racing driver Alex Dunne will be receiving Government funding in order to further his motorsport career.

Speaking to the Offaly Independent, McCormack said the funding recognises the extraordinary level Alex is competing at and the very different financial realities facing young drivers.

“Drivers rely enormously on sponsorship and financial backing simply to compete,” commented McCormack. He first announced plans to work with Minister of State for Sport, Charlie McConalogue, last year in a Dáil speech.

“We are talking about an Offaly driver competing just one step below Formula 1. There are very few Irish athletes competing week after week on an international stage of this scale.”

“Imagine what that exposure is worth to Offaly and to Irish tourism. Alex is bringing the name of a small county… to television screens around the world.”

A dominant display from Max Verstappen featured the latest example of remarkable communication between himself and team boss Gianpiero Lambiasse.

Ever so slightly further down the pit lane, it was the opposite for Scuderia Ferrari. A disastrous strategy from Ferrari and Hamilton saw him fall from second to sixth, losing spots to Leclerc, Antonelli, Norris and Piastri.

Belfast’s Charlie Eastwood and his TF Sport No.33 Corvette teammates, Blake McDonald and Alec Udell have won the 2026 European Le Mans Series LMGT3 class championship.

The team came across the line second at the 4 hours of Portimao, but it was enough to secure them the title for a second consecutive year.

He couldn’t, could he?

Max Verstappen is on Pole Position for Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix. It’s now a fourth competitive session in a row that he has topped, beating the two Ferrari’s in qualifying.

A championship comeback would be insanity from this far back, but who knows when it comes to the genius that is Max Verstappen.

The FIA have released their latest driver licence categorisation changes, with one Irish driver being promoted, and that of course is Peter Dempsey.

Dempsey, racing in the World Endurance Championship and the GT World Challenge, and has taken class wins in both competitions. The Meath native took the Bronze Cup victory in Race 1 of the GT World Challenge weekend in Barcelona.

The ratings are decided by experience, speed, success as well as age of the driver. Dempsey will no longer be eligible for mandatory Bronze driver roles in the WEC, although with his speed shown this year, hopefully a drive can still be secured.

The promotion comes in to place on January 1st.

Team Ireland driver Jack Miller is the new Tillotson T4 Mini World Champion after winning the competition at the T4 Nations Cup in Valencia.

Miller, who races for OHR , started the final in second fought hard with both Irish rivals (Harley Brereton and Jack Harney) and international competition to win the race.

The youngster from Craigavon took two podiums in this years All Ireland Rotax Max Challenge. His older brother Euan also races Tilotson machinery.
