🏆 Senior Championship Round 3 Preview

The final round of the Senior Championship is set for Friday, September 4th, and there is absolutely everything to play for.

🔥 GROUP A
Navan O’Mahony’s v Dee Rangers
Oldcastle v St. Peter’s Dunboyne

St. Peter’s Dunboyne currently sit top after two wins, with Navan O’Mahony’s and Oldcastle both on three points. Dee Rangers will be hoping to shake things up in the final round.

Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels v Seneschalstown
Donaghmore/Ashbourne v Skryne

It’s all to play for at the top, with both Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels and Seneschalstown on maximum points after two games. Meanwhile, Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Skryne will be battling to keep their championship hopes alive.

By the end of the night, we'll know who has booked their place in the knockout stages, who progresses towards the semi-finals, and who will face the possibility of relegation.

Kepak Intermediate & Junior A Championship — Round 1 🔥

Round 1 of the Kepak Meath LGFA Club Championships delivered plenty of action, big performances and some seriously competitive games.

🏆 Intermediate Championship

🔵 St Colmcille 4-13 | St Michael’s 0-7
A very strong St Colmcille side laid down an early marker with an impressive opening-round win.

🟢 St Ultan’s 2-08 | Boardsmill 2-13
A fantastic result for Boardsmill, who will be thrilled to come away with the win.

🟡 Simonstown 2-13 | Na Fianna 6-16
Na Fianna made a real statement, with some exciting young blood introduced as they impressed in front of goal.

A closely fought contest, with Walterstown coming out on top.

🏆Kepak Junior A Championship 🏆

Ratoath 5-15 | Kilbride 3-04

Friday evening and our game of choice was the Junior A Round 1 clash between Ratoath Gaa and Kilbride, played on a cooler August evening.

Before throw-in, a minute’s silence was held in memory of Kilbride teammate and friend Rachel McManus. Kilbride also wore black armbands as they faced their first game without Rachel — a poignant and tough moment for the club.

Kilbride started the brighter and more efficiently, with Megan Peters finding the net before adding a point. Ratoath responded with three points before Meath star Amy Gaffney hit the net.

The first half was a real battle. Points from Kate Moody and Aideen Reilly kept Kilbride in touch, while a superb pass from Megan Peters sent Reilly through on goal, only for her effort to be ruled out for over-carry.

Ratoath then hit their stride, with goals from Fiona McNerney and Áine ‘Cookie’ Cook putting the home side eight points clear. Kilbride continued to battle, with Ava Nugent producing some excellent defensive work, while Kilbride Gfc and Meath U20 goalkeeper Megan Leddy made a crucial save.

Megan Peters added her second goal and Aideen Reilly converted a free to bring Kilbride back to within four, before Lara Lacey added a late Ratoath point. Meath minor star Louise Byrne also impressed with some strong carries and excellent dispossessions.

Half-time: Ratoath 3-05 Kilbride 2-03.

Ratoath started the second half with Laura Kelly seeing her effort brilliantly blocked by Ava Nugent. The home side then enjoyed another strong spell, with captain Rebecca McIntyre, Fiona McNerney and Amy Gaffney adding five points between them.

Kilbride refused to let the game go. Megan Peters was brought down inside the square and the referee awarded a penalty, which the lively full-forward dispatched into the top corner.

Kilbride continued to battle, but Ratoath finished strongly. Áine ‘Cookie’ Cook and Rebecca McIntyre added goals, with Sara Gilhooly and Amy Gaffney completing the scoring with points.

There was another a special moment this time for Ratoath as Chloe Faherty returned from a long-awaited ACL recovery, receiving a cheer from the sideline and spectators

A convincing win for Ratoath, but Kilbride showed plenty of fight throughout and were competitive for long periods, particularly in the opening half.

Senior Championship Round 1

Round 1 of the Kepak Meath LGFA Senior Championship is in the books, with some strong performances and plenty of competitive action across the opening games.

🏆Kepak Senior Championship 🏆

Seneschalstown make winning start in Kepak Senior Championship

Seneschalstown GFC 1-11
Skryne GFC 0-6
📍 Seneschalstown | Thursday, 13 August

Meath Minor Anna Donnelly opened the scoring from a free before Meath star Orla Finnegan or Fino as we've come to knie her as , added two early scores.

Skryne's Ellie Murphy responded from a free, but Seneschalstown continued to build their advantage, leading 0-6 to 0-2 at half-time.

Seneschalstown started the second half strongly, with Fino adding another point before Seneschalstowns Emma O'Donoghue found the back of the Skryne net after a well-worked move through the hands, giving the home side a valuable cushion.

Skryne continued to battle, with Meath LGFA Ciara Smyth proving reliable from frees, and in the latter stages Skryne showed glimpses of a real fighting attitude as they continued to push right to the final whistle.

The final score saw Seneschalstown 1-11, Skryne 0-6, giving Seneschalstown a positive opening to their campaign, while Skryne will take the positives and look to build as the Championship continues.

Round 1 action concludes on Friday evening, with the final Senior Championship fixture taking place in Millbrook at 7:30pm, where Oldcastle take on Dee Rangers.
