Lios Tuathail were back in action today in Brosna for the next round of the cross country season. We had 24 children and 3 adults take part. The course was one of the toughest anyone can remember, with a very long, steep uphill that tested every runner. It makes today's results all the more impressive.

First up was the Masters race. Micheál Lynch used last week's novice run to set himself up for it, and it paid off with a 3rd place finish 🥉. Noelle Dillon followed last week's 2nd place in Foilmore by winning the Inter Women's race 🏅. James Dillon was right at the front again and battled the hill to take a great 2nd place in the Inter Men's race.

In the U9 girls, Maria Guiney was our sole representative and did the club proud. Our U9 boys had four runners: Micheál Lynch, Bobby Weir, Finn Prendiville and John Patrick O'Halloran. John Patrick ran a cracking race to finish 4th.

Clodagh Lynch, Grace Guiney and Grace Kennelly all ran well in the U11 girls. Our U11 boys had a strong turnout of five. Jack Collins finished 4th and Daryl Mongey 6th, and Tadhg Quilter, Dylan O'Connell and Cian O'Sullivan all put in solid runs.

Our U13 girls team of Elizabeth O'Halloran, Aoileann Collins, Kaya Wolska and Máire Enright were all running up an age group. Kaya led the way with a superb 8th place, and the rest of the team all finished high up the field. Together they took 3rd place in the team event 🥉, a fantastic result on such a demanding course.

The U15 girls was another great race for the club. Emer O'Sullivan raced well again and took 2nd place, Dylan-Kate Treacy finished 4th, and Ellen Hynes completed a strong trio with another good run. In the U15 boys, Brian Enright finished 4th in a competitive field. Hugh Hynes dug deep on the climbs and finished just outside the medals, and Robert Enright also ran well.

Finally, Eoghan Dillon kept his great form going in the U17 boys. He improved on last week's 5th place to take a well-deserved 3rd 🥉.

Well done to all the athletes, who showed real grit on a very tough course. A big thank you to the parents and coaches who made the trip to Brosna. It was another successful and, more importantly, enjoyable day out 👏.

Lios Tuathail were back in action this morning in a most beautiful senic setting in Foilmore for the start of the cross county season. We had 20 children and 3 adults take part.

The route consisted of 1k laps, with runners taking the first bend into a steep downhill followed by a 400m flat section and a gentle uphill finishing the loop with a big uphill surge.

First off Noelle Dillon set the tone for the day in her first co novice 4k race. She put herself in a good position from the off and went with the lead group. With lead runner pushing ahead after 3k Noelle broke away from the chasing pack and held onto 2nd place to the finish in a stylish and confident run.
James Dillon and Michaèl Lynch set off on their 6k Novice adventure with different goals, Michaèl placed well in the field and has set himself up nicely for a good run out in next weeks masters competition.
James led from the gun pushing hard throughout in the hope of burning off stiff competition from Olympics David Kenny however today he had to settle for 3rd place today which is a great achievement in itself. James is always in the shake up for the top prize in every race and never shys away from going for gold.

The first 6 placed finishers medal in co underage xc races and we had no time to take a breath as the u10 girls race saw Grace Kennelly as the sole Lios Tuathail representative over 1000m. She ran superbly and moved from 8th to 6th place in the final uphill push collecting yet another medal for the club in a field of 50 girls.

The U10 boys of Cian O sullivian, Tadhg Quilter, Michaèl Lynch & John Patrick O Halloran all preformed really well and were just outside the team medals but they placed well up the 50 strong field and are a great bunch.

Our 12 boys of Daryl Mongey, Jack Collins, Ben Stack & Dylan O Connell and U12 Girls, Kaja Wolska, Clodagh Lynch, Elizabeth O Halloran, Aoileann Collins, Aine Quilter and Cara Keane both Medaled in the Team events.

The Boys Team placed 3rd overall due to finishes from 10th to 25th place. While the Girls took the Gold Medal 🏅 with strong runs from all the girls with the added bonus of Kaja best placed and in the medals with an individual top 6th place finish 🥉. Both these fields were 50 strong and all the boys ran a year up so 👏.

We had 3 girls run in the u14 3k race. Saoirse O Connell set off in her first XC race and completed the course with a solid run never giving in right to the line. Ellen Hynes also ran and finished well inside the top 10 in a really strong run. Finally Emer O Sullivian went off from the start in the lead group and this went from 3 down to 2 after the 2k mark. It was a very tacticle race and Emer is one of the best for managing a race. She pushed hard with 400m to go and won in style 🏅.
Finally the boys u16s went to post and Hugh Hynes completed the 4000m course in style. Finishing just outside the medals, he continues to improve and the hard work he puts in is paying off. The other Lios Tuathail athlete in this field was Eoghan Dillon and he stayed with the lead group for 3/4 of the race. This age group is full of top class runners and is always highly competitive and fast paced. Eoghan recent 5k times shows he is developing massively and took a well deserved 5th place medal in a hotly contested race. Well done to Eoghan 👏🥉 and all the athletes and parents who made the journey to Foilmore that ensured a most successful but more importantly enjoyable day out.
