Fethard Rangers North Versus Fethard Rangers South at Ashgrove at 11.a.m. on St. Stephen's Day in aid of the mental health charity Epona Dawn.
Delighted to see such a large number of spectators brave the bracing breeze and the game was as per usual an epic battle which ended in a nil all draw. A special word of mention for the two goalies who put in a busy shift in both halves. And then had to pull off some fantastic saves in the penalty shoot out. Many thanks to all the players who gave up their morning for such a worthy cause.

It wouldn't be St. Stephen's Day if Fethard Rangers didn't host their annual charity game at Ashgrove Arena. Although now boasting a team of Legends XI (over 45's) versus the current Rangers (under 30) team it still resulted in a lively affair. The current team ended as winners (2-1), largely due to some sterling goalkeeping from Rory Sutton. Well done to everyone for giving up their time for the Irish Cancer Society. Meanwhile if any neighbouring farmers are walking the land NSEW of Ashgrove keep an eye out for a half dozen footballs.

Fethard Rangers held their annual Stephen's Day Game for the Irish Cancer Society this morning at Ashgrove. And as with previous years it did not disappoint.
Conan Murphy (Saltmills), opened the scoring for the Under 35's and Niall Redmond (Saltmills),eventually equalised for the Over 35's but not before the introduction of impact sub William Waters sporting a pair of Kilkenny socks which he got from Santy earlier in the day.
The subsequent penalty shoot out was nerve wracking as player after player stepped up to score from the penalty spot.
It all came down to Paul Connolly and the parish held its breath as he drove it to Ralph much to the relief of goalie Cathal Walsh. The crowd erupted and everyone went home well pleased with their morning at Ashgrove.
Fair play to all the lads who turned up and gave a great exhibition for the fans.
