CYMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2025-26: VICTOR McCORMACK
What a season. What. A. Season.
Victor held top spot in Division One for most of the year before being pipped at the post - turns out somebody found Adam Nolan. But that was just the warm-up.
3 Six Reds wins
8 Six Red finals played
3 Cup wins - including the Myles Murphy Cup (3-0 v Steven Jacob) and the Cutlery Cup (3-2 v Mark Donovan)
And then the big one. The really big one.
Anthony Quinn Cup Champion 2026
Victor did himself, and the club, proud this year. A thoroughly deserved Player of the Year.
Congratulations, Victor!

At our Presentation Night, CYMS Snooker Club was proud to make a very special presentation to Jim Carrick, who became the first person ever to receive Lifetime Honorary Membership of the club.
For more than 20 years, Jim has been the driving force behind CYMS Snooker Club. As Treasurer, organiser, mentor, and friend, he has given countless hours of his time to ensure the club continued to grow and thrive. His dedication, commitment, and hard work have been the backbone of the club for many years.
This award is a small token of our appreciation for everything Jim has done for the CYMS Snooker Club and its members. His contribution to the club is impossible to measure, and this honour is richly deserved.

It was our end of season Six Red competition last night, so it was no surprise to see another big turnout, with 28 players going to post.
We also had a few new members competing in their first ever tournament, and it was great to see them really enjoying the experience.
It was the two Marks who battled their way through the field to reach the final. Mark Madden was playing in his second final of the year and was hoping to go one better this time against Mark Donovan, who had already won three times this season. Mark Donovan was hoping to join that elite bunch on four wins for a season however it was not to be 😥
After sharing the spoils with one frame each, it all came down to a respotted black to decide the final Six Red competition of the season. Mark Madden held his nerve to claim his first Six Red title. I’m sure everyone will be delighted to see Mark get his first win, as he is one of our most regular competitors.
We have our presentation night coming up this Saturday in Johnson’s Bar, Newbridge. All are welcome.

Six Red Competition,
Another great turnout last night, with 24 players enjoying a night of competitive snooker and plenty of friendly banter.
We’re taking a summer break after next week’s Six Red, so it would be great to finish with another full turnout. The race to be crowned our 2025/26 Six Red Champion is still wide open, with three players tied on four wins and several others close behind. The overall winner will be presented with their trophy at our end of season presentation night on 13th June in Johnston’s Bar.
Last night’s final featured a first-time finalist, Steph O’Connor, whose commitment throughout the season paid off with a place in the decider. Standing in his way was experienced finalist Daithi O’Connell, who was making his third final appearance of the season. Daithi proved too strong on the night, winning 2–0.
Well done, Daithi, and hard luck, Steph. See you all next week.
