The Northwest Vipers American Football Club are delighted to officially announce the appointment of Donal McCloskey as Senior Kitted Defensive Coordinator ahead of the 2027 season.

A highly experienced figure in Irish American Football, Donal previously served as the long-standing Head Coach of the Antrim Jets, guiding the club to victory in the 2022 AFI Division 2 Bowl.

Following a few years away from American Football Ireland, Donal now makes his return to coaching, bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership to the Vipers' defensive unit.

Speaking on his appointment, Donal said:

"It's great to be back coaching with a club that personifies everything great about football in Ireland. The Vipers have stood the test of time and are only getting better. It's a privilege to be part of this!"

Donal joins our coaching staff as preparations begin for the 2027 campaign, with the club looking to build on the progress made in recent seasons.

We are delighted to welcome Donal to the Northwest Vipers and look forward to seeing the impact he will make both on and off the field.

Welcome to the Vipers, Coach McCloskey! 🐍

A tough 27-26 defeat to the Ballylakeland Gators brings our Northwest Vipers Mixed Flag 2026 campaign to an end.

Our team gave everything right until the final whistle, falling just short in a thrilling playoff encounter.

A massive thank you to our players, coaches, supporters and everyone who has backed us throughout 2026.
