The Town will be hoping to bring the Minor 'A' title back to Portlaoise for the fifth time and for the first time since 2019.

Club legend Teddy Fennelly Snr launches his new book, Joseph Dowling: In Casement's Wake, this Thursday.

Born on Well Road (now New Road) in 1886, Joe Dowling joined Roger Casement's Irish Brigade in Germany. In April 1918, a German U-boat landed him off the Clare coast on a secret mission. Captured and sentenced to death, he was spared ex*****on but not released until 1924.

It's a story with deep roots in our own club and town. Joe was grand-uncle to our footballer Andrew Dowling and his sister Clare, mam of our forever young Dylan Fitzpatrick. Dylan and his dad Eoin remain the inspiration behind our club's new development, and it's fitting that this proud family story is being told now.

Launched by Dr Cormac Moore. All welcome. Let's turn out and support Teddy and the Dowling family! πŸ’š

Our youngest team, the Town Tigers U5 nursery, finished their season last night with fun games and treats.

This group commenced on March 6th in the CBS hall, and have made lots of new friends in the club.

The boys and girls had great fun developing their Agility, Balance, Co-ordination, Running, Jumping and Throwing, and the skills of Catching, Kicking and Striking

A massive thank you to all the committed parent-coaches who stepped up to support the Summer outdoor sessions.

We look forward to seeing them all back in the hall in March.

Club member Niall Dollard is running 100km in October to raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer, and to fundraiser for this excellent cause that has impacted hugely on close family members.

Please come out and join Niall next Tuesday 20th October as he completes a portion of his challenge - meeting at the back car park of Portlaoise Plaza at 7pm.

And if you can’t get out to run, walk, or shuffle - you might still be kind enough to donate for this very good cause.

Best of luck Niall πŸ’ͺπŸŽ€πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
