*Leinster Even Age Cross Country*

The Even Age Cross Country was hosted by Gowran AC on a tough course and the wind and rain made it a little more hard hitting.
On the day we had 30 athletes run in every from U10 up to Novice.

U10 Open Race
Charlize Byrne took on the 1000m loop in the Girls U10 race. Charlize had a great run following her success in the Laois XC.

U12 Races (2000m)
Both the U12 Boys and girls races were very large, with over 250 runners between the two.
In the girls race we had a team made up by Elise Milner, Rozlyn Byrne, Fia NíChomhairde and Sadie Buckley. The girls all ran really well with out of age Elise leading the team home in 11th place. The four girls all did brilliantly in a very intimidating field.
PJ O’Neill took on the U12 boys race and had a super run. PJ is always positive and that is how he ran making up a lot of places during the second lap.

U14 Races (3000m)
In the girls race we had Yvette Milner, Emma Dunne and Roisin McCoubrey. Yvette like her sister was out of age today and came home in a brilliant 21st place and second scorer on the Laois team with Emma Dunne also scoring on the 7th place county team.
We had a team in the boys race lead by Brady O’Neill, who finished 28th after falling early in the race. Luke Hayes and Ethan O’Keeffe had a great run, and Noah Kiernan did brilliantly in his first Leinsters with the team coming 10th overall.

U16 Races (4000m)
The U16 girls all ran brilliantly to help get the county team to a great fourth place and qualifying for Nationals.
Aoilleann NíChomhairde and Sadbh NíChomhairde both scored on the team and Éabha McCoubrey helped push back the fifth place team to give a 5 point cushion.

U18 and U20 Races (5000m)
We had full teams in both the boys and girls U18 and U20 races.
The girls had Siobháin O’Loughlin (u20) Áine O’Loughlin (u18 &u20) Sophia Redmond (u18 &u20), Cara Dooley (u18 &u20), Caoimhe Rennick (u18 &u20), and Karen Melia (u18 &u20). Any girl under 18 could score on both the u18 &u20 team. Siobháin had a great run finishing 4th U20 and helping the team to 6th place. Sophia and Cara both scored on the 2nd place Laois U18 team, while Caoimhe Áine and Karen helped the club team to fifth.

The boys race was scored the same way with Sean McAuliffe (U20), Shane Maher (U20), Riley Connolly (u18 &u20), Gearoid McCann (u18 &u20), Nathan Hayes (u18 &u20) Cameron Lawrence ((u18 &u20), and Dylan O’Keeffe (u18 &u20) all running brilliantly. All of the boys have qualified for Nationals through their team positions and Riley qualified individually as the winner of the U18 race and second overall.

Sean who was 5th U20 and Riley both scored on the second place County team and our under 20 club team missed out on the podium by 1point finishing fourth. Our U18 team was also unlucky to miss on a podium position by finishing fourth only 3 points behind third.

Novice (6000m)
We had Seamus McCoubrey in the Novice race. Seamus was running a Leinster race for the first time and had a really good run scoring on the fourth place county team.

Well done to all of our athletes and a massive congratulations to our U18 Leinster Champion, Riley.

Best of luck to everyone that has qualified for Nationals.

Our next outlining is the Loais B, Junior and Master Cross Country in Emo on Sunday, 01st November.

Best of luck to all our members (and all other runners) running in the DCM tomorrow.

*Laois Intermediate and Uneven Age Cross-Country*

Ballyroan Abbeyleix and District AC hosted Day 2 of the Laois Cross-Country championships on a windy course in Blackhills, Abbeyleix.
We had 50 athletes running on the day between all 14 races from U9 up to Intermediate.

*U9 - 600m*
The U9 girls were the first race of the day and a fantastic run by Charlize Byrne saw St Michaels win their first gold of the day. Alice O’Neill had a great run too and won an individual medal in 7th place.
The U9 boys were up next. Oisin Leavy and Hugo Fitzpatrick were our two runners, and both did great. Hugo finish in 15th position and Oisin won an individual medal in 6th.

*U11 - 1000m*
We had our first team in the U11 girls. Elise Milner, Mollie Byrne, Ellie Allen-Kirwan and Sarai O’Neill all took the 1000m course. The girls were fourth team on the day, and Elise had a great run to finish 3rd overall after a tough battle with the second place girl.
Four of our boys took on the boys U11 course. PJ O’Neill, Micheal Raine, Karlo Belan, and Ethan Gray all had a good run to bring the team home in fourth place with PJ finishing first of the group, in 6th place.

*U13 - 2000m*
We had our largest team of the day in the U13 girls with six girls running. Yvette Milner, Rozlyn Byrne, Fia Ní Chomhraidhe, Kay Ryan, Hannah O’Neill and Lydia Murray all ran well on the day to win an excellent silver team medal. Yvette also had a great individual run to win an individual bronze.
Tristan Gray and Donagh McCoubrey ran in the boy’s race. Both boys were very strong finishing 14th and 17th.

*U15- 3000m*
The U15 girls race took off at a blistering pace and put everyone under pressure, but our three girls got stuck in and won a bronze team medal with Emma Dunne, Sadhbh Ní Chomhraidhe, and Róisin Mc Coubrey.
Brady O’Neill won our next individual medal in the U15 boys after a tough battle with the eventual winner. The boys’ team won a team silver on the day too with Brady, Luke Hayes and Ethan O’Keeffe running.

*U17’s*
The U17 girls took on a 3500m course. We had five girls take part and they all packed well for the first lap and brought home team gold for the club. Sophia Redmond, Aoileann Ní Chomhraidhe, Éabha Mc Coubrey, Caoimhe Rennick, and Karen Melia represented themselves well and Sophia won an individual bronze.
Dylan O’Keeffe was our only U17 boy to take on the 4500m course. He had a great race and won an individual bronze medal.

*U19 Girls and Intermediate Ladies- 4000m*
The U19 Girls and Intermediate Ladies were mixed for the second last race of the day. The younger athletes set a fast pace from the beginning, and our U19 girls won themselves a super team gold medal with Siobhán O’Loughlin, Áine O’Loughlin and Cara Dooley making up the team. Siobhán backed up her Novice gold from two weeks ago with a brilliant U19 individual gold today.
Our Intermediate ladies weren’t to be outdone, and they won a brilliant team silver. June O’Neill, Olivia Sheerin, Sinead Slevin and Caroline Cullen all put in a great effort and can be very happy with their team medal after winning Novice team gold two weeks ago.

*U19 Boys and Intermediate Men- 6000m*
The U19 Boys and Intermediate Men were also combined for their 6000m race. Like the ladies race a group took this race out from the start, led by the U19 winner Sean McAuliffe. Sean was our only U19 runner in the race and he can be very happy with his win and has extended his winning streak from last week’s Novice.
The Intermediate men; Derek Bracken, Séamus Mc Coubrey, Luis Iemma, Derek Coogan, Micheal Mc Cormack, and Raymond Mc Gill all put in a fantastic effort to win team bronze in a stacked race. The team was led home by Derek with another great run. The lads can be very happy with their performance and are all looking forward to the masters in three weeks.
Congrats and a big well done to all our runners and our three gold medal winners; Charlize, Siobhán and Sean.

Thank you to BallyroanAbbeyleix&District A.C forr putting on a great day of racing.

Our next outing is the Laois Masters and Juvenile B Championships on Sunday 1st November.
