Donamon Castle once again proved to be a fabulous venue for today’s County Roscommon Clubs Cross Country Championships. With the sun shining, conditions were perfect for cross country running! A big thank you to Fr. George for allowing us to use the grounds and facilities.
With over 50 entries from Roscommon AC, there was plenty of action both on and off the course!
Our day kicked off with some fantastic performances from our brilliantly enthusiastic U9 girls and boys, many of whom were experiencing their very first competition. We are so proud of every young athlete who toed the line and battled their way around the course. 👏
A huge thank you to the organisers, County Roscommon Athletics County Board, and to all our volunteers, especially our teen athletes Saoirse, Etain, Juliette and Charlotte, who stepped in to help keep the event running smoothly. Thanks also to Fiona Sweeney for providing first aid, and to all the parents who brought their children along to take part.
It really was a lovely, upbeat event, and we were delighted to see Roscommon AC so well represented.
🏆 And finally, we were over the moon to be crowned Overall Club Winners! We were delighted to receive the Fabian Walshe Shield from Margaret Mullooly. Huge congratulations to every athlete who contributed to our winning team score. This was a fantastic team effort, and you should all be very proud!
We look forward to seeing plenty of our athletes take part in the Connacht Even Ages Championships, which take place on 25th October at Roscommon Racecourse.
📅 Closing date for entries: 16th October. More details to follow!
Well done, everyone - a fantastic day for Roscommon AC! 💙💛
