Thomas Higgins: Thomas Higgins has secured a Clutch Pro Tour card for Tier One next season after he finished in a share of sixth place at Q-School in the UK last week. Played at Belton Woods, Thomas came through the 54 holes with a one-under total which was four shots behind winner Luke Metcalf. He was under pressure after an opening round of 73 but he bounced back brilliantly with a 67 to all but secure his passage in the top-25 and he could afford a final round of 75. Thomas recently turned professional and now has the Clutch Tour to fall back on for next season. He is already through to the second stage of DP World Tour Q-School which takes place in Spain next week.

Cards: Our weekly card game continues every Tuesday night at the clubhouse at 7pm. All welcome.

MORE GOOD NEWS FOR THOMAS HIGGINS

Thomas Higgins comfortably secured a Clutch Pro Tour card for Tier One next season after he finished in a share of sixth place at Q-School.

Played at Belton Woods, Higgins came through the 54 holes with a one-under total which was four shots behind winner Luke Metcalf.

The Roscommon man was under pressure after an opening round of 73 but he bounced back brilliantly with a 67 to all but secure his passage in the top-25 and he could afford a final round of 75.

Higgins, who recently turned professional ahead of last month’s Amgen Irish Open, has the Clutch Tour to fall back on for next season. Already through to the Second Stage of DP World Tour Q-School which takes place in two weeks, he has his eyes firmly set on a full Tour card – and much bigger targets beyond.

CLUB WEEKLY NOTES 12.10.26

Dr Noel Farrell: It is with great sadness that we learned over the weekend of the passing of one of our most prominent members Dr Noel Farrell. A member of the club for over 50 years, Dr Farrell served in almost every position on the club executive over that time.
He was men’s captain on two separate occasions, 1983, and 2004 and he was club president in 1998. He was also course manager for many years and oversaw the development of the club into an 18 hole facility and all other developments at the club in recent times.

The club would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Noel's wife Susan, daughters Gillian, Sinead and Darina son David, brothers Charlie and Paul, grandchildren and extended family.

May he rest in peace.

Our ladies team won the annual County Cup which was played at Roscommon GC on Saturday 3rd October.

Dr Noel Farrell RIP

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of one of our most prominent members, Dr Noel Farrell over the weekend. A member of the club for over 50 years Dr Farrell served in almost every position on the club executive over that time.

Lady Captains Away Day was held in Castlebar on Sunday 4th and a great day was had by all.

The annual Roscommon Cup was held in the club on Saturday last 3rd October. Team winners were Roscommon. Overall individual winner was Kate Walshe Roscommon 42pts, 2nd Linda Carty Athlone 37pts, Gross Annie Timothy, 3rd Sinead O’Donohoe Boyle 34 pts, 4th Brid Kenny Athlone 33pts. The Roscommon GC team was Kate Walshe, Teresa Duke, Una Gleeson, Marina Cribbon, Mary O’Connor, Martina Brennan, Annie Timothy.
