HOSPICE FUND RAISER

Well done to Rusty Hession, the Hession family and every one connected with the Stephen Hession Memorial fund-raiser for Hospice on Saturday.

The weather was mighty, the crowd was huge and the craic was super. A great day and night...............and here's to next year. Fair play to Thomas Higgins for coming in and presenting the prizes too.

We will have a final figure raised in the next week or so.

OLIVIA SHINES AT THE IRISH OPEN

Olivia shot an excellent two under par 70 in the second round of the KPMG Irish Open at the K Club on Friday. She ended at +4 which was outside the cut mark but she included four birdies in her round. Her round was featured on RTE and SKY.

We saw almost every shot and anyone watching was treated to a fantastic display from Olivia who proved that she is very much at home in this company. Members of our club are very proud of her.

She played with, and outshone no less players than Leona Maguire and Shannon Tan and remember....................Olivia is still only 18 years old. What a performance.

Well done again Olivia!!!

We can now say that Thomas Higgins is safely through to the next round the DP World Tour Q School- a birdie at his very last hole ensured his safe passage!!!!!!!! In fact he finished 10th...............Well done Thomas!!!

The second stage of the Q School will once again be played in Spain from October 29 – November 1.

Cian O'Connor finished his French Open tournament on 6 under par and in 14th position after rounds of 66, 72 and 69 for a 207. The winner was on 12 under. A great performance Cian- well done

Unfortunately Thomas Higgins has slipped back in the qualifying competition at Bristol. He had a five over par round of 75 today and is now on level par for the tournament and in joint 22nd place and 7 shots behind the leader. Thomas needs a good round tomorrow- good luck from all here!!!

Cian O'Connor had a level par round of 72 today in the French Men's Championships and is on 4 under for the tournament. He is four shots behind the joint leaders. Round three tomorrow. Good luck to Cian!

CIAN O'CONNOR AND THOMAS HIGGINS FLYING HIGH

Cian O'Connor and Dylan Keating are both playing in the French Amateur championships which started today and we have more good news in that Cian has shot a brilliant opening round of 5 under par 66 and he trails the early leaders by just one shot. Sorry I'm late to this but we wish Cian the best of luck.

The good news keeps rolling in!!!!! Thomas Higgins has shot a three under par round of 67 in the second round of the qualifying tournament in Bristol. He is now on five under for the tournament and he leads by one shot. He shot 4 birdies and one bogey today. The leader from round one Sam Murphy from Portumna is now on two under after a 73 today. Brilliant work from Thomas.

THOMAS HIGGINS STARTS WELL IN BRISTOL

Thomas Higgins is in a great position after round one of the tour qualifying tournament in Bristol. He shot a two under 68 and is in joint 5th and just three shots behind the leader who is actually Sam Murphy from Portumna!!!

Thomas had a real roller coaster round. He shot 1 eagle 5 birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey. He tees off at 9am tomorrow morning. Good luck Thomas!!!!

Olivia Costello has been handed a dream draw in the opening rounds of the KPMG Irish Open at the K Club this week. On Thursday and Friday she will play with Irish star Leona Maguire and the 2025 European Order of Merit winner and pre tournament favourite Shannon Tan from Singapore. The trio will tee off at 8.18am on Thursday morning..

Parent and Child: There was a huge entry at the weekend for the annual parent and child competition kindly sponsored by the MacGuigan family. Winners of the 7 hole competition were Clodagh Whyte and Rian Murray, 2nd were Richie and Luke Evans. Winners of the 9 hole competition were Daniel and Gerry McNulty, 2nd were Liam and Milo Casey. Thanks to everyone who played and supported the event.

Stephen Hession Memorial Fund Raiser: The annual Stephen Hession Memorial fund raiser for Mayo-Roscommon Hospice takes place this Saturday, There will be a raffle and auction on the evening in the clubhouse after the golf and everyone is welcome to attend.

Olivia Costello: Olivia players in the KPMG Irish Open at the K Club this week. There are practice rounds Monday and Tuesday, the Pro-am is on Wednesday and the tournament starts on Thursday, Many club members will travel to see her in action and we wish her the best of luck.

Thomas Higgins: Thomas begins his quest to get on the European Tour at the qualifying school in Bristol this week. Forty players will progress to stage two which is in Spain next week. We wish Thomas the best of luck.

Inter Club: Our Jack O’Sullivan team defeated Loughrea last week and will now face Portumna in the next round. More details next week.

PARENT AND CHILD COMPETITION A HUGE SUCCESS

A very popular fixture on our calendar each year is the MacGuigan family Parent (Adult) and Child competition and this year’s event proved to be no exception. There was a great turn out for both the 7 hole and 9-hole competitions played over 2 days on Friday and Saturday. This is a lovely competition kindly sponsored by the MacGuigan family in memory of two remarkable people Mary and John who gave a lifetime of service to our Club.

Winners of the 7-hole competition were Clodagh Whyte and Rian Murray; 2nd were Richie and Luke Evans. Winners of the 9-hole competition were Daniel and Gerry McNulty; 2nd were Liam and Milo Casey.

A very special word of appreciation to Aidan Mulvihill for his help in organising this competition and indeed his trojan work with the Juniors throughout the year. Thanks also to Richie Evans for his help. Thank you to Michael and his staff for the lovely refreshments afterwards. They were very much appreciated. Grateful thanks to all who played over both days.
