Abbey United would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Patrick, Gary, Jason, and the extended McCartney and Fallon families on the sad passing of Della McCartney (nee Fallon).

The McCartney family have deep roots in Abbey United and our local community. Della’s husband Patrick alongside her son Gary have been coaching our youth players and have been influential in our underage girls team, both her sons Gary and Jason have both came up through the club. That strong family connection carries on today through her grandchildren—Raymond, Lacey May, and Jake—who have all worn the Abbey United jersey with pride. Della loved to come down and watch them all play.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Patrick, Gary, Jason, Raymond, Lacey May, Jake, and all of Della’s family and friends at this difficult time.
May Della rest in peace. 💙🤍

Abbey United FC – Condolences

Abbey United FC would like to extend our deepest and most sincere condolences on the sudden passing of Jake Downey.

Jake’s brother Neal and cousins are all members of Abbey United FC, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and the entire Downey and McManus family at this incredibly sad and difficult time.

Fixtures for the upcoming week including a busy weekend kicking off early this evening in Gurteen with u15 Boys, more games tomorrow including a Quarter final for u13s Boys against Benbulben. The men's team are at home on Sunday at 11am followed by u13 Girls away in Coolaney with the week rounded off with u18 Boys in McSharry on Thursday evening. Busy weekend ahead see you there!!!

This is the men's first outing in the Connacht Cup in a number of years, so make sure to get yourself down to Sean Fallon Park, Cranmore on Sunday at 2pm to support the lads. See you there!!

All this coming weeks action kicking off in Cranmore at 12:30pm tomorrow with u12 Boys in Cranmore and u14 Boys out in Geevagh, followed by a double header as u13 Boys take on St. Johns followed by Abbey United Men against Colemanstown United from Galway in the Connacht Cup. Concluding with u17 Boys facing Boyle Celtic in Riverstown Monday evening.

Abbey United Football Club would like to extend our sincere condolences to the residents and loved ones of Cranmore Drive following the recent passing of three much-loved residents:

Jackie McLoughlin, Marie Somers and Pat Wallace.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with their families and friends at this very difficult time, especially their grandchildren and past members of the Abbey United family who are connected with the club.

As a mark of respect and remembrance, Abbey United Football Club will hold a minute’s silence before tonight’s Senior Men’s game against Merville United.

May they all rest in peace. 🕊️

Abbey United fixtures for this weekend
Kicking off tomorrow evening in Summerhill as u12 Boys in action.
Saturday will see a lot on the line as the two sides of the town clash twice in the day as Abbey u15s boys take on Merville in Sean Fallon Park, followed later by the senior encounter of the mens teams as Abbey & Merville meet under the lights of McSharry Park in what is sure to bring a crowd.
Sunday brings more u12s action in Cranmore. Before we return again on Monday under the lights of McSharry as another town derby kick offs as Abbey United Womens season gets underway against last season league champions Glenview Stars.
u17s Boys also in action on Monday in Enniscrone followed by the u18s on Thursday in McSharry
