Be great if you could help me raise funds for the Irish cancer society Irish Cancer Society Relay for Life Sligo
 follow the link below
 and thanks so much x

https://www.relayforlife.ie/fundraisers/sligowomeninbusinessnetwork

💜 Come walk with us at Relay For Life Sligo!

Relay For Life Sligo is an amazing community event taking place over 24 hours at ATU Sligo, bringing people together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones and raise vital funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

We know lots of our SWIBN members will already be taking part and walking with different groups, businesses, families and community teams across the 24 hours.

So we thought it would be lovely to have one hour when the Sligo Women in Business community comes together too. 💜

📅 Sunday 6 September
🕚 11am
📍 ATU Sligo, Ash Lane, Ballytivnan, Co. Sligo

Come and walk a few laps with us, have a chat and connect with some familiar faces.

Everyone is welcome, so bring your family, friends and colleagues too. You don't need to be walking with the SWIBN team for the full event. Just come and join us for our 11am hour.

We're also raising funds to support cancer patients and their families across Ireland, so if you'd like to support Team Sligo Women in Business Network, every donation will help.

💜 Donate to our team here:
https://www.relayforlife.ie/fundraisers/sligowomeninbusinessnetwork

It's a fantastic event for Sligo and a really lovely opportunity for our community to come together for something that helps so many.

We'll see you at 11am on Sunday September 6th. The more the merrier! 💜

A QUESTION WE KEEP HEARING

It might begin as a conversation about work.
Or stress.
Or sleep.
Or confidence.

But somewhere beneath it, there’s often a much bigger question:

“What do I want the next chapter of my life to look like?”

We’re hearing this from women who may be five, ten or even fifteen years away from retirement.

They’re not necessarily looking to stop working.
They’re wondering whether they want to keep living and working in quite the same way.

Could I reduce my hours?
Do something more meaningful?
Start a business?
Take a break?
Use my experience differently?
Or simply create more space for the things I’ve been putting off?

These aren’t just retirement questions.
They’re life transition questions.
And they’re at the heart of many of the conversations we’ll be having on The Messy Midlife Toolkit.

What does your next chapter look like when you imagine it?

You go to bed exhausted
but your brain hasn’t got the memo.
Your body is tired.
Your eyes are tired.
You’ve been looking forward to getting into bed all day.
Then your head hits the pillow and suddenly your mind is replaying conversations, planning tomorrow, remembering what you forgot and mentally opening another ten tabs.

That’s the difference between being tired and being wired.

You may be physically ready to stop, but your nervous system is still activated. It hasn’t yet received the signal that the busy part of the day is over and it’s safe to shift into recovery.

This is one of the most useful things wearable technology can help us understand.
The data becomes an X-ray of your day.
It makes the invisible visible.
You can begin to see which parts of your day are creating strain, where recovery is missing and why you still feel switched on long after work has finished.

Sometimes it’s the late meeting.
Sometimes it’s the commute.
Sometimes it’s constant notifications, an intense workout, evening emails or carrying the day straight into bed.

The data doesn’t create the change. The conversation does.

Once you can see the pattern, you can start experimenting with small ways to help your system stand down.

A short walk after work.
A screen-free buffer before bed.
Slow breathing.
A proper end to the working day.
Not another wellbeing overhaul. Just a clearer understanding of what’s keeping you wired.

Does your body feel tired while your mind is still racing?

Real conversations. Practical tools. Permission to create what’s next.

That’s exactly what Vivienne and I wanted The Messy Midlife Toolkit to be.
A space for honest conversations about the parts of midlife that don’t always get talked about.
The identity shifts.
The invisible load.
The tired but wired nights.
The career and relationship questions.
The moments when life looks fine from the outside, but no longer feels quite right on the inside.

We’re not here to tell women how to fix themselves.
We’re here to help make sense of what’s happening, explore what might be changing and offer practical tools to help women move forward with more clarity and confidence.

We’re really glad you’re here.

Our first full episode is now out!

“Rediscovering Yourself in Midlife” is about that strange feeling of looking at your life and wondering where you went along the way.

We talk about identity, values, the roles we take on over the years, and why feeling a bit lost doesn’t necessarily mean you need to blow up your life and start again.

Maybe you haven’t lost yourself. Maybe who you are has changed, but your life hasn’t caught up yet.

If that sounds familiar, we’d love you to have a listen.

🎧 Listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts

And if you enjoy it, please follow the podcast, share it with a messy midlife friend, or leave us a rating or review. It really does help more people find us. 😚

We hope you enjoy it!

With love,

She was described as a light. And perhaps that’s why these words stayed with me. ✹

A wish is hoping something good will happen.
A dream begins when you can actually see yourself there.

And that made me wonder how many of us are working incredibly hard, keeping everything going, managing the next deadline, responsibility or challenge without ever really stopping to ask:

What am I working towards?

Because it’s difficult to create a future you haven’t allowed yourself to imagine.

What would you like your work to look like?
Your relationships?
Your health and energy?
Your days?
Your life?

And not what you think it should look like.
What would you actually like it to look like?
Maybe your dream is big.
Maybe it’s much smaller - simpler.
Maybe it’s a different career.
A business of your own.
Writing the book.
Travelling more.
Having greater freedom.
Feeling healthier.
Working differently.
Having enough energy left for the people and things you love.

Whatever it is, perhaps the first step isn’t another goal or another plan.

Perhaps it’s giving yourself permission to look further ahead and imagine:

If the next chapter of my life went really well, what would it look like?

A little light and moment to pause from Streedagh beach today. 💛
