SOS Road Race message from The Callaghans:
We would all like to say a big thank you to all members of Star of the Sea AC, particularly those who were involved in organising this year’s road race, and the wider running community who came out in huge numbers to support this year’s race, raising €5500 to help towards Neil’s ongoing medical costs. Members of the organising committee contacted the family to enquire about using the race as a fundraiser and we were delighted to take up the offer. Neil is a long-time member of the club and was actively running right up until this cruel illness struck. It was a very emotional night for all the family but the outpouring of love and care for Neil was very uplifting for us all. We were blown away by the amount of money raised and also the number of prize winners who handed their winnings directly to Mam on the night- the running community is definitely a very special group of people. The money raised will help Neil access therapies he needs as well as contributing towards other medical costs and we hope that Neil will make further progress over the coming year. Thank you again to everyone who helped organise such a wonderful event and to everyone who contributed towards the fund. Keep up the miles and looking forward to seeing you all again at the cross country event on Sunday, September 27th.
