KDFL U20 Prem
Suncroft AFC U20s 1–3 Newbridge Town U20s

Suncroft U20s suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 3–1 to Newbridge Town in a game where the final scoreline perhaps didn't tell the full story.
Newbridge took the lead to make it 1–0 before Suncroft's task was made considerably harder when they were reduced to 10 men following a sending off.
Despite being a man down, Suncroft responded brilliantly and got themselves back on level terms. Adam Carroll produced a lovely through ball to release Seamus Murphy, who kept his composure and finished superbly into the bottom-right corner to make it 1–1.
Suncroft continued to battle and created opportunities, but it proved to be one of those days where chances didn't quite fall their way. A little more luck around the box and the outcome could have been very different.
Newbridge eventually took advantage of the extra man, scoring twice more to secure a 3–1 victory.
Suncroft's effort couldn't be questioned. With only 11 players available, there was no opportunity to freshen things up from the bench, yet the lads kept fighting right until the end. The challenge became even greater just before the final whistle when Suncroft were reduced to nine men following a second sending off.
There were plenty of positives despite the result. Seamus Murphy put in an excellent performance up front and never stopped running, while Reece Doyle showed great determination at centre-back, battling through an injury for much of the second half.
⭐ Man of the Match: Eoin Deans
A superb performance in midfield, working tirelessly throughout and leading the fight despite Suncroft playing much of the game with reduced numbers.
Full Time: Suncroft AFC U20s 1–3 Newbridge Town U20s
A disappointing result, but plenty of character shown by the lads in difficult circumstances. We go again. πŸ’šβš½

Hanlon & McNally Bag Braces as Suncroft Put Six Past Visitors Dunlavin

Suncroft 6–1 Dunlavin

Suncroft welcomed Dunlavin to the Community Grounds looking to add another home win to their tally.

The hosts started the brighter of the two sides, with early chances falling to Gareth Sage, Shane Dillon, Kelvin McNally and Aaron Sinnott as Suncroft looked to make their early pressure count.

The breakthrough finally arrived after 23 minutes. Kelvin McNally tried his luck from 25 yards out, with his strike causing confusion for the Dunlavin keeper before finding its way into the back of the net to give Suncroft a deserved lead.

Nine minutes later, Suncroft doubled their advantage in some style. Shane Dillon did brilliantly to create space for himself and, despite travelling away from goal, unleashed a thunderous strike that flew into the top-right corner.

Suncroft weren’t finished there.

On 38 minutes, McNally was involved again, this time delivering a dangerous ball into the box. His delivery caught everyone out, looping over the goalkeeper and into the net for his second of the afternoon, sending Suncroft into the break with a commanding 3–0 lead.

The home side struggled to maintain the same momentum after the restart, and a lapse in concentration allowed Dunlavin to pull one back.

Suncroft’s response, however, was immediate.

Just three minutes later, Gareth Sage restored the three-goal cushion, somehow finding the net directly from the corner flag to make it 4–1.

Ten minutes later, super-sub Jack Hanlon showed exactly why you never give up on a ball. Hanlon bulldozed his way free at the back post before firing home his first of the afternoon and Suncroft’s fifth.

And he wasn’t finished.

In the dying moments, Hanlon popped up once again, chasing down a loose ball before selling the goalkeeper with a clever fake and calmly slotting home his second to put the finishing touches on a dominant afternoon at the Community Grounds.

Full-time: Suncroft 6–1 Dunlavin.

Best for Suncroft on the day were Jack Hanlon, Kelvin McNally, Ben Sinnott and captain Jay Mair, who all played their part in another impressive home victory.

But Man of the Match goes to a man who is certainly no stranger to the award β€” Stuart Hanley.

Hanley was ever-present at the heart of the Suncroft defence once again, producing another excellent display and even treating the supporters to a viewing of the famous β€œStewey Special” fake-shot turn.
