𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗗𝗢𝗘𝗦𝗡'𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝗔𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗬
Developing a Women’s F50 division in the National Cup is essential to the growth of the Masters programme at national level.

We want women to have meaningful opportunities to keep playing and competing and establishing this age group in the National Cup is an important next step.

Following Ireland’s F50silver medal at this year’s FIBA Masters Open, we want to build on that success here at home.

We recognise that individual clubs may not have enough players to field a full squad. To help make participation possible, up to two clubs can collaborate and four guest players are now permitted per team.

Basketball Ireland Masters is seeking expressions of interest from Women’s F50s teams AND individual players who would like to participate but don’t have a team.

We’re also open to practical ideas on how this division could work. Your involvement can help establish a competition this season and build a lasting future for F50s basketball in Ireland.

Taking place in Dublin on 21st–23rd May 2027, this Basketball Ireland sanctioned tournament welcomes teams from Ireland and overseas for a weekend of basketball, friendship and social events.

Competitive on court. Social off it.

Galway Masters welcomes 48 teams across seven divisions to the University of Galway’s Kingfisher Club from 30th October – 1st November for a weekend of basketball, friendship and community.

This year’s tournament proudly supports Claddagh Watch Patrol, a volunteer led charity working to prevent su***de and accidental deaths along Galway’s waterways. Funds raised will help provide lifesaving equipment, volunteer training and support for people in distress.

𝗪𝗘'𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗞𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗦!
We're delighted to share that Basketball Ireland Masters has been shortlisted for a '2026 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙', as one of just four finalists in the Best Multiplatform Campaign - No Budget category.

But this one really belongs to our Masters community!

When we launched our social platforms in April 2025, the aim was simple: to give Masters basketball in Ireland its own voice and create a place where players, families, clubs and supporters could connect with the journey.

Our Road to Greece and 2026 FIBA Masters Open campaign brought that journey to life, from the build up and preparations to following our eight Irish teams throughout the tournament in Greece. It's this campaign and the incredible support from our community that have earned us a place on the national shortlist.

Every view, like, comment, share and message helped tell that story, and without your support, we simply wouldn't be here.

So thank you to everyone who has followed, shared, commented, sent us photos and videos, cheered on our teams and helped tell the story of Masters basketball in Ireland.

The Sockies (National Social Media Awards) take place at the RDS on 12th November.

The team entry fee is €160, with a €165 bond applying to new teams.

Registration and Expression of Interest is now open for the Basketball Ireland Masters National Cup 2026/27.

This season’s competition will feature four age categories:

- M40 & F40
- M50 & F50

Please note: all players must be registered with Basketball Ireland and hold a valid current BIPIN. Players should register as an Adult player and select Masters from the dropdown menu.
