*Thomastown United U14A 6–0 Deen Celtic*
A really positive team performance from the U14As today, with the boys starting brightly and finding themselves 2–0 ahead after just seven minutes. We continued to play with confidence and purpose throughout the opening half, with Cian Lanigan (2), TJ Roche and Callum Walsh finding the net to give us a 4–0 lead at half-time. It was also great to see Callum make a welcome return to the team and mark it with a goal.
The second half was another strong team effort. We remained disciplined in our positions, communicated well and continued to move the ball with real fluidity. Cian completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot, before Leon added our sixth from open play to complete the scoring.
What was particularly pleasing was the collective effort. The boys worked for each other, held their positions, tackled hard and left everything on the pitch. There were some lovely passages of football, but just as importantly, there was good communication and a willingness to do the hard work and protect the team.
The work we’re putting in at training is beginning to show, and today’s performance was another encouraging step forward. There is still plenty for us to work on and improve, but the boys should be very pleased with their effort and teamwork today.
