On Saturday 26th of July 2026, we were thrilled to mark the official start of a new tradition in our Tipperary town club! The inaugural Tipperary Tempest Trophy, a precision shooting competition which we feel was a fantastic success, and it's just the first of many thrilling tournaments to come for our Munster pétanque community.

A big thank you to our Tipperary Town & Country Pétanque/Boules Club crew for making the firstl shooting competition a big success, especially to those who stepped in to score and reset the targets, cook the BBQ and amazing catering.

We were pleased with the turnout, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from the participating clubs and all agreed it was a significant step for Munster to develop the relevant skills.

The very first winner to have her name engraved on the beautiful trophy for evermore was Beatrice Berclaz, Waterford Petanque Club was first, 2nd Jim DiFusco, Clashmore/Kinsalebeg Pétanque Club and 3rd Ararat Tramore Pétanque club. Well done all.

a. *25th July* - Away friendly: Clashmore/Kinsalebeg at their club ground - 1 team required (6 players min). All welcome to try out (it’s a friendly after all).
b. *26th July * the inaugural Precision Shooting competition + BBQ - Tipperary town. Up to 16 players from Munster. €15 entry fee including BBQ or €5 to spectate with BBQ.

c. 3-4 October 2026: The Twinning Cup – Tipperary town v Parthenay France, in France. Interested in playing, contact above email.

Well done to James and Roliem, who fought off stiff competition in Waterford today for the IPA Munster Doubles qualifiers, finishing in the top 8: which qualifies them for the IPA National Doubles finals in Dublin in August. A big thanks to Olivier for a well run event and Tom/Waterford for the venue.

🏆 The Twinning Cup 🏆.

The first ever game of the Twinning Cup took place yesterday in Athlone between Tipperary Town & Country Pétanque/Boules Club. And Cavan Pétanque club. This was the inaugural game, a new format and collaboration between 4 clubs, two Irish clubs and their respective French twin town and their Pétanque clubs Parthenay and Juanay. Our French leg will be in France in September to see who will be crowned the Twinning Cup champion 🏆

Great team spirit, plenty 🌞 sunshine, plenty sunblock and super shots, Cavan PC emerging the round 1 winners.
