From Sportfield Drive in Ballyduff to the corners of championship rings, Patrick “Killer” O’Brien wasn’t just a coach—he was a force. But it was in the corner, towel in hand and fire in his voice, that he truly made his mark. As head trainer at Cashen Vale Amateur Boxing Club in Ballybunion, Killer mentored 14 Irish National Title holders and European medal winners. His eye for talent and his relentless belief in his fighters turned local lads into legends. One of his brightest stars, Kevin Cronin, now fights professionally, carrying Killer’s legacy into every bout. Even after the club’s closure, the echoes of Killer’s coaching still ring through Kerry. His impact wasn’t just in medals—it was in confidence built, discipline taught, and futures changed. Here’s to the man who turned gloves into greatness. Killer, your legacy punches far above its weight.

Entries are now being accepted for the County Antrim Boxing IABA's Belfast Halloween Box Cup, which is a nationally calendared tournament.

Boxing will take place at the Girdwood Community Hub, 10 Girdwood Avenue, Belfast, Antrim BT14 6EG, beginning on October 26th.

The Central Council, at its meeting of Saturday, August 31st, has adopted a selection policy for underage athletes.

The policy sets out on the basis on which the Irish Athletic Boxing association (IABA) will select underage National Teams in the Junior Cadet, Senior Cadet and U18 age categories for nominated international tournament(s)
